IN THE NEWS - MORE WOKE ISSUES: NETFLIX PUTS ITS WOKE EMPLOYEES ON NOTICE WITH BLUNT MEMO

Netflix published its first corporate culture memo update in nearly five years Thursday with a particular emphasis on censorship and how employees need to behave, according to Variety. The “Netflix Culture – Seeking Excellence” memo reportedly added a new section called “Artistic Expression,” that explains to employees that even content they believe is “harmful” will not be censored, according to Variety. “If you find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.” MORE AT https://dailycaller.com/2022/05/13/netflix-woke-employees-notice-blunt-memo/

New from our friends at European Film Star Postcards

Written by Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was one of the most important English writers during the Victorian era and the first literary chronicler of the metropolis in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. He became famous with 'The Pickwick Papers', which appeared monthly from 1836 onwards. It was followed by 'Oliver Twist' in 1837-1838, 'Nicholas Nickleby' in 1838-1839, 'The Old Curiosity Shop' and 'Barnaby Rudge', both in 1841. Other famous novels are the partly autobiographical 'David Copperfield' (1849-1850), 'Great Expectations' (1860-1861), and 'A Christmas Carol' (1843). 'A Tale of Two Cities' is the world's seventh best-selling book with 200 million copies. His last novel, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", was never completed and was later published posthumously. Characteristics of Dickens' stories are the social evils, the story structure, the cartoonish characters, and the humour. The first feature-length film adaptation was a 1913 version of 'David Copperfield' directed by Thomas Bentley for producer Cecil Hepworth. In the years since the prolific author has never ceased to be an inspiration for filmmakers—dozens of adaptations of his work have made their way to the screen.  READ AND SEE MUCH MORE AT

SUMMERFEST 2022 -- SOME BLASTS FROM ASBURY METHODIST SUMMERFEST PAST & MORE

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

One of the great things about Summerfest is the opportunity to reconnect with your local churches and service organizations. And
ASBURY METHODIST CHURCH has been a part of village history for a very long time. (Click on the photos and links.)

FROM THEIR WEBSITE: In the middle of the 18th century, Methodist Circuit Riders often stopped at Van Cortlandt Manor House, where a corner bedroom was kept in readiness for traveling dignitaries. So often was the room occupied by such men as George Whitfield and Francis Asbury that it became known as “Prophets Corner”.

By 1780 a formally organized Methodist Society existed and began plans for its first church building. In 1777, Pierre Van Cortlandt, first Lieutenant Governor of New York, ceded to the community of Croton Landing a piece of property on a high knoll overlooking the Hudson River. The prominent Van Cortlandt family also contributed to the building of the Methodist Chapel. The exact date of the building cannot be determined, but records tracing the production  of nails used in the Chapel place the date of construction between 1779 and 1781. YOU CAN READ MORE HERE.

Click on the photos from Asbury Methodist---assorted years ---and their annual Summerfest participation.
