STATE DEPT. CABLES: WUHAN CONDUCTED CLASSIFIED RESEARCH

U.S. RIGHT TO KNOW
Pursuing truth and transparency for public health

Three previously unreleased State Department cables obtained by U.S. Right to Know include new information about classified research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

One cable alleges evidence of connections between China’s biotechnology sector and the People’s Liberation Army, including “cyber evidence” of “PLA shadow labs at WIV,” the PLA’s involvement with the construction of the lab and subsequent presence there, and “WIV personnel with possible PLA ties.”

A second cable appears to address the blurring of civilian and military research — specifically Beijing’s emphasis on “military-civil fusion,” or MCF — in the world of biotech.

A third cable details the way in which Beijing authorities, rather than local apparatchiks, censored the spiraling pandemic in critical early days, with devastating consequences....read more at State Dept. cables: Wuhan Institute of Virology did classified research (usrtk.org)

IN THE NEWS---TRANS INFLUENCER BANNED AFTER GOING TOPLESS AT BIDEN PRIDE EVENT

Trans influencer banned after going topless at Biden pride event

Curated for you by CP Editors

Good afternoon! It's Wednesday, June 14, and today's headlines include a trans influencer posing topless at a White House event, a report on CommonSpirit Health network hospitals' coverage of sex-change surgeries, and the Southern Baptist Convention upholding the removal of Saddleback Church.

During a pride event hosted by President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden on Saturday, a trans-identified influencer posed topless. The White House said the individual is barred from future events and called the incident "disrespectful." Video footage shared by trans activist Rose Montoya—a man who has had cosmetic surgery, including breast implants, to look more like a woman—shows him standing on the grounds of the White House at an LGBT pride event Saturday with his chest exposed. Children were present at this event.  Full Story.

Croton River

The Croton community is invited to float down the Croton River at this year’s 125th Anniversary Boat Flotilla, a floating parade hosted by the Croton 125th Anniversary Committee. The floating parade will start at 10:00 AM. Boats will launch from Echo Canoe Launch, paddle up to Fireman's Island, turn around, and stop at Mayo's landing for a talk by Croton Historian Marc Cheshire about the old mill. The route is approximately 4 miles and will take about 2 hours to complete, and is considered a 2 out of 10 in difficulty level. Difficulty may vary depending on the flow of the current from the dam upstream. The flotilla will be led by the Croton Police Department Boat. A light lunch will be provided at the end of the paddle. Registration is required. Click here to register and learn more.

BOAT FLOTILLA POSTPONED! Due to the impacts of yesterday’s storm on the Croton River, this 125th Anniversary Committee event is being rescheduled for August 19, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bill to Block Radioactive Waste Dumping Stalls in Assembly--June 14, 2023 Rick Pezzullo--Legislation that would prohibit the dumping of radioactive waste from decommissioning nuclear plants into the Hudson River has hit a snag in the State Assembly.

On Friday, the Senate unanimously passed the bill that was introduced by Pete Harckham (D/South Salem), but Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg (D/Ossining), who sponsored the bill, said last-minute objections from Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and his conference stopped it in its tracks, at least temporarily.
