From the moment he bought Twitter in October, Elon Musk has seemed intent on using his new acquisition to wage war on the tech industry's prevailing culture. He slashed the company's workforce in half, got rid of long-established perks like free lunches and home internet, and warned those who remained that they would be working "long hours of high intensity." He converted offices into sleeping quarters for "tired" employees and threatened to fire anyone who wasn't "hardcore" enough. "Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade," Musk declared in an after-midnight email to employees. (NewsNation) - After criticism from top female athletes, the International Olympic Committee is introducing new guidelines for trans athletes.  The issue of trans women competing in sports has sparked laws across the U.S. that limit participation, despite relatively few numbers of trans athletes at local levels.  Trans swimmer Lia Thomas made headlines previously, sparking debate around whether testosterone levels would give trans women an unfair advantage. The man behind the 1981 Brinks robbery that left two Hudson Valley police officers and an armored car guard dead has been released from federal prison for health reasons.  Mutulu Shakur, age 72, most famously known for being the stepfather of slain rapper Tupac Shakur, was granted release by the US Parole Commission on Friday, Dec. 16, due to a terminal illness, according to multiple news reports. BY SPECIAL REQUEST: 139 Grand--the former home of Croton's Dr. Acker--has been undergone many reincarnations throughout the years--assorted restaurants, including The Croton Steak House, a gift shop known as Treasures & Tales, followed by another known as Wake Robin.

For a time it was also the home of THE PEWTER HORN, started in 1978 by Ed and Mabel Dean. Click on the photo from 1978.
