Jan. 15—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For the first time in more than 200 years, two big groups of cicadas will emerge simultaneously from the ground in the United States.

Though cicadas, also known as "heat bugs," make their presence known throughout the country every summer by "singing" their loud song, some groups of the large, flying insects only emerge from underground every so often.

Contrary to popular belief, cicadas are not grasshoppers or locusts. They belong to the same family as aphids and leafhoppers. The letter, first posted on Twitter by End Wokeness, was written by Chief Diversity Officer Sherita Hill Golden, and was part of the 'monthly diversity digest'. It caused commotion and outrage online - forcing the institution to apologize. Dr Golden was allowed to keep her job, despite cries for her to be sacked. PEEKSKILL, RILEY BUILDING, SHIA & CHAIM LeBRECHT

Peekskill has avoided a second default judgment that would have meant a defeat in a lawsuit without getting their day in court.

The owners of the Riley Building sued the city last October, claiming building inspectors delayed granting a certificate of occupancy for two years because of religious discrimination against Shia and Chaim Lebrecht, Hasidic Jews who own the property.
