Man in Peru arrested for making Westchester synagogue threats, hundreds others across U.S.--Alexandra Rivera

The FBI said a 33-year-old man from Peru was arrested by Peruvian authorities after he sent bomb threats to over 150 school districts, synagogues and other public places in multiple locations including Westchester County.

Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a news release that Eddie Manuel Nunez Santos called in fake bomb threats to schools, synagogues, airports, hospitals and a shopping mall from Sept. 15 to Sept. 21. The threats were received in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Arizona, Alaska, and New York.

CORTLANDT DAILY VOICE - Peru resident Eddie Manuel Nunez Santos, age 33, was arrested by Peruvian authorities on Tuesday, Sept. 26 after allegedly placing a string of bomb threats in New York, Connecticut, Arizona, and Alaska in retaliation against teenage girls for them refusing to send him sexually explicit photos, the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced. ......After investigating email, phone, and Internet Protocol address data, the FBI eventually determined that Nunez Santos, a resident of Lima, Peru, had been allegedly responsible for sending the threats, which had been sent to schools, synagogues, airports, hospitals, and a shopping mall. One of these threats was sent to a synagogue in Westchester County, New York, which read: "I placed multiple bombs inside the Jewish Center. The bombs I placed in the building will blow up in a few hours. Many people will lay in a pool of blood," according to federal officials. WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A Peruvian national was arrested in Peru for sending over 150 hoax bomb threats to schools, synagogues and other institutions in the U.S., including at least two in Westchester. He is also accused of soliciting child pornography.
