It’s 9:00 am on Wednesday, January 3. Croton’s Village Court is in session—and on time.

Judge Watkins tells everyone to sit down, and surveys the courtroom—which, as it happens, is the Georgianna Grant Meeting Room, where Croton’s Board of Trustees, Planning Board, and certain other august bodies of Croton-on-Hudson meet. Public Ceremony for Unveiling of "Dr. Greg Schmidt Way"

Wednesday, January 10th at 1:00 PM
at the Intersection of Grand Street and Old Post Road North

On Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, at 1:00 pm, Village officials will hold a public ceremony to unveil a new street sign at the intersection of Old Post Road North and Grand Street proclaiming a portion of Grand Street as “Dr. Greg Schmidt Way” in honor of former Village Mayor Dr. Greg Schmidt. The ceremony will be followed by a reception with light refreshments in the Georgianna Grant Room of the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building. A Proclamation honoring Dr. Schmidt’s achievements and service to the Village will be presented at the 7:00 pm Board of Trustees Meeting.

Peekskill Man Killed In Croton Hit-And-Run
Police said the incident happened on Route 9 North just south of the Croton Point Avenue exit.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — A man from New Jersey was accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian on Route 9 in Croton-on-Hudson Sunday.

The Village of Croton on Hudson Police Department said, around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, members of the New York State Police and Croton police, fire and EMS departments were sent to a report of a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Route 9 North just south of the Croton Point Avenue exit.

The pedestrian, a man later identified as a Peekskill resident, was taken to the Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation by responding officers found that the man was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.

Authorities said that fragments of the unidentified vehicle, including a front grille

Within 16 hours of the incident, using pieces of the vehicle that were found in the roadway, the Croton Police Department identified the vehicle and the driver involved in the accident.

Edisson E. Quichimbo-Guayara, 20, of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, a felony. MORE AT Peekskill Man Killed In Croton Hit-And-Run | Ossining, NY Patch
