News 12 was told over the weekend from Mayor Eric Adams’ office that migrant families with children would arrive on Sunday. That didn’t happen.

FBI ADMITS DURHAM REPORT IS RIGHT

The FBI made a tacit admission Monday to the findings of the Durham Report showing the agency acted improperly when investigating former President Donald Trump and the alleged Russian collusion.

Special Counsel John Durham found the FBI used “uncorroborated intelligence” when it launched its investigation into Trump ahead of the 2016 election. The report also found agents failed to maintain “strict fidelity to the law” throughout its investigation.

The FBI responded shortly after its release, acknowledging the errors made in 2016, which concedes the findings of the Durham report are accurate.

“The conduct in 2016 and 2017 that Special Counsel Durham examined was the reason that current FBI leadership already implemented dozens of corrective actions, which have now been in place for some time. Had those reforms been in place in 2016, the missteps identified in the report could have been prevented,” the statement reads. READ MORE AT FBI Admits Durham Report Is Right | The Daily Caller

NASHVILLE SCHOOL SHOOTER'S MANIFESTO DELIVERED TO JUDGE TO DECIDE ON PUBLIC RELEASE

5/14--A Tennessee judge is set to decide whether the full, unredacted manifesto of Covenant School shooter Audrey Elizabeth Hale will be publicly released.

The city’s lawyers have submitted the manifesto, along with a censored version, to the Davidson County jurist for review, the local FOX17 affiliate reported.  The move comes after a slew of lawsuits calling on the city to release the manifesto, in its entirety, involving the March 27 massacre that left three children and three staff members dead before Hale, 28, was shot and killed by responding police.

With a motive yet to be determined, many believe the writings could bring insight as to why Hale, a former student at the Christian elementary school, committed the atrocity.

The manifesto was previously under review by Nashville police and the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. MORE AT Nashville Covenant School shooter's manifesto delivered to judge (nypost.com)

FRENCH LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS REFUSE TO WEAR RAINBOW-COLOURED JERSEYS

French league footballers refuse to wear rainbow-coloured jerseys--26m ago

France’s top football league has been caught up in a storm of controversy after several players refused to take part in a gesture of support for the LGBTQ community at the weekend.

The French Professional League, the domestic football governing body, had called for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 players to wear shirts with rainbow-coloured numbers at this weekend’s matches ahead of Wednesday’s International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. But some players refused to do so.

The National Union of Professional Footballers said it was not up to the players to convey “collective messages”. It said in a statement it was astonished that clubs should ask them to do so. READ MORE AT French league footballers refuse to wear rainbow-coloured jerseys (msn.com)

MARK THE DATE--JUNE 17--BBQ, 125TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship---in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Mark the date—Saturday, June 17—on your calendar with a bright red marker, ’cause you certainly don’t want to miss this one!

On that day, Croton’s 125th Anniversary Committee and the Van Cortlandt Manor invite you to participate in the highpoint of our commemoration, and the social event of the season: BBQ, Music, & Friends on the grounds of the Manor House. But we can host only a limited number of people on this exceptional occasion, so don’t delay. Make your reservations now at: Croton125.org. You don’t want to be left on the outside looking in while your friends and neighbors enjoy the festivities.

There will be delicious catered food and drink, stirring music from around the world, exciting games for the kids, and much, much more; all along the banks of our beautiful Croton River.  Hobnob with a wide swath of Croton residents and stroll the elegant paths trod by George Washington, Ben Franklin, and the elites of seventeenth and eighteenth century New York. And for the historically minded among you, we will offer limited tours of the Manor House.

Don’t forget that many people waited too long to reserve tickets for our opening event in February—Happy Birthday, Croton—and were precluded from attending that performance, which is still being talked about around town. Don’t let that happen to you this time. Round up your family, call your friends, and make your reservations today, before all of the spots are sold out. I promise that you will not be disappointed!

Remember, there will not be anything to match it for another 25 years!

Best regards,

Joel Gingold

JEFFREY A. TUCKER---AFTER COVID---TWELVE CHALLENGES FOR A SHATTERED WORLD

Three years ago, in the depths of lockdowns, it became obvious that we desperately needed a new citizen movement with a different focus. Prevailing ideological forms were simply not adapted to the enormous exogenous shock to the system that lockdowns implied. It was unexpected, especially under the guise of public health.

Every essential freedom was under attack. And so I suggested a response:

This movement, whether it is called anti-lockdown or just plain liberalism, must reject the wickedness and compulsion of this current moment in American life. It needs to counter the brutalism of lockdowns. It needs to speak and act with humane understanding and high regard for social functioning under freedom, and the hope for the future that comes with it. The enemies of freedom and human rights have revealed themselves for the world to see. Let there be justice. The well-being of us all is at stake.

And such a movement did in fact form. It has been broad. It has transcended the ideological and class entrenchments of the past. It grew in sophistication and strategy over time. The resistance became international. It fought its way out of censorship and shaming. The fields of battle have been varied and comprehensive, from the scientific journals to journalism to hard-core revolts on the street such as the truckers’ protest.

The results have been impressive. Vaccine mandates and passports have been beaten back. The right of international travel has been restored. Emergency declarations have been allowed to expire (even if the powers are still in place). We are back to pretending that the people and not the Faucis of the world are in charge.

There has been no justice, however. No question that the officials who did this to us are on the ropes. Many have resigned. Others are hiding. Rare is the public figure today who is willing to own what happened. And these days, hardly anyone defends the claim that the despotic response achieved anything in terms of public health. MORE AT After Covid: Twelve Challenges for a Shattered World  ⋆ Brownstone Institute
