NOT WOKE ENOUGH---THE NEW YORK TIMES ACCUSED OF EDITORIAL BIAS IN COVERAGE OF TRANS & NON-BINARY

A host of New York Times contributors accused the newspaper of “editorial bias” in its coverage of transgender and non-binary people — even in stories that ask if schools should keep parents in the dark about their children’s gender choices.

An open letter signed by nearly 200 contributors and advocates accused the Gray Lady of stoking fears by treating “gender diversity with an eerily familiar mix of pseudoscience and euphemistic, charged language while publishing reporting on trans children that omits relevant information about its sources” in recent years.  MORE AT New York Times blasted for 'editorial bias' in transgender coverage (nypost.com)

FROM OUR FRIENDS AT EFSP:; RAQUEL WELCH HAS DIED

16 February 2023 Raquel Welch (1940-2023)

Yesterday, 15 February 2023, American actress and sex symbol Raquel Welch (1940) died at the age of 82 after a short illness. She was one of the icons of the 1960s and 1970s. Welch first won attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage (1966). In Great Britain, she then made One Million Years B.C. (1966). Although she had only three lines in the film, a poster of Welch in a furry prehistoric bikini became an amazing bestseller and catapulted her to stardom.  READ AND SEE MORE AT European Film Star Postcards: Raquel Welch (1940-2023)

IN THE NEWS - CRITICS OF FAILED COVID POLICIES CALL FOR PANDEMIC RECKONING

Critics of failed COVID policies call for pandemic reckoning By Daniel Nuccio - February 15, 2023 06:31 AM

Eight leading critics of the United States’s COVID-19 response have called for an investigation of the many failures of policy architects and key decision makers — at institutions ranging from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration to universities and hospitals — over their repeated mishandling of the pandemic.

Given the immense harm inflicted on our society by the follies of a ruling class and their expert advisers who never failed to make a wrong decision when presented with the opportunity, as well as the fact that lives are still being destroyed by their lingering policies , we can only hope this blueprint does not go ignored.

Dubbing themselves the “Norfolk Group,” the association of scholars includes such prominent names as Stanford epidemiologist Jay Bhattacharya , Harvard epidemiologist Martin Kulldorff , UCSF physician Tracy Beth Høeg , Johns Hopkins University surgeon Marty Makary , and Indiana University School of Medicine immunologist Steven Templeton .
