FEDERAL COURT JUDGE PULLS CANADA BACK FROM THE BRINK
The Federal Court decision contains four conclusions. Two prerequisites for invoking the Emergencies Act, said Justice Richard Mosley, were not met. Moreover, the two regulations issued under it were unconstitutional. Predictably, the government has promised to appeal. For the government to prevail, an appeal panel would have to overturn all four. But there is a wrinkle, which I will get to momentarily. Roads are an ongoing concern in my district and throughout this region of New York State. I am reaching out with an update regarding the study of Route 9A in the vicinity of Ossining and Briarcliff, undertaken to develop recommendations for long-term plans to improve the functionality, safety and sustainability of this route. L.A. TIMES IS IN HOSPICE---COULD THERE BE A DEATH BED CONVERSION?
This was supposed to be a sad homage to the glory days of the Los Angeles Times, a once great newspaper that showed sleepy SoCal residents sharp elbowed enterprise and investigative journalism seen only in the big cities back East. The Times appears to be on a ventilator at the moment as its billionaire owner sloughs off 115 newsroom positions, gets rid of 20% of its staff, and openly fights yet again with its unions. The move is another body blow to the news business. Most conservatives probably aren't too sad about this change of fortune, however, and with good reason. READ MORE AT The Lefty L.A.
