Virginia Mary Barnett, age 91, of Croton-on-Hudson, New York passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Virginia was born in Bronx, New York.   A mass of christian burial for Virginia will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Following the mass of christian burial will be a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. SERVICE INFO & OBITUARY FOR ROSEMARIE ROSE LAGIOVANE PALMIETTO

Sorry for the late posting---Rosemarie “Rose” Lagiovane Palmietto was called back to God on January 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and friends at home. She was 92 years old. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dominick Joseph Palmietto, since 2005.

She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Angela Palmietto-Bruno of Croton-on-Hudson and Roseanne O’Grady (Timothy). The greatest joy in her later life was being a grandmother to her adoring grandchildren, Gregory (Kristin) and Victoria (Andrew). She lived to experience the joy of becoming a great grandmother to Etta Louise Bruno (Gregory and Kristin).

She was born in New York City to John and Rose Lagiovane. Her sister, Rita and brother-in-law Thomas Rizzi, predeceased her. She is survived by her loving brother, Michael Lagiovane, and his wife Rosann Lagiovane.

On September 7, 1957, she married Dominick J. Palmietto at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Bronx, New York. They settled in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

She worked many years as a bookkeeper for Radio Yesteryear, Children’s Village and Stony Lodge Hospital. She loved working with numbers and was a master at Sudoku.

She was past president of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Third Army’s 80th Division, where her husband served as a highly decorated war hero and veteran of World War II.

She was a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church. She loved participating in the Croton Caring Committee, and the Croton Senior Citizens.

In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to China, Alaska, Australia and especially Italy. But her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchild were always the center of her life.

She is also survived by cousins, many loving nieces, nephews, their families and dear friends.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to and affection for, Rusa, who lovingly graced her with care and was devoted to her during her advancing years. Rusa became part of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Viewing is scheduled for Friday, January 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Croton-on-Hudson, New York by her nephew, Father John Lagiovane burial at Bethel Cemetery.
