Spano said Yonkers was told the families would be housed at the hotel for up to a year — but wasn’t provided resources to deal with the additional schooling, public safety and health services needed for those individuals.

Asylum seekers sent by NYC expected to arrive in Yonkers this weekend

YONKERS - Mayor Mike Spano is expecting as many as 100 asylum seekers to be sent to his city sometime this weekend by New York City.

Christina Gilmartin, spokeswoman for the mayor, said the latest she has heard is that they might arrive Sunday. Earlier, a Saturday arrival had been expected.
