William Powell
William Powell (1892-1984) was an American actor, whose career began in silent film. He is best known for the Thin Man film series based on the Nick and Nora Charles characters created by Dashiell Hammett in which he starred opposite Myrna Loy. Powell was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Leading Actor a total of three times, for The Thin Man (1934), My Man Godfrey (1936), and Life with Father (1947).
