ABOUT REPLACING THAT ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY...ON A CHEVY VOLT

IT'S FRANKENSTEIN DAY

Pull up a chair---Today is Frankenstein Day--Frankenstein Day takes place on the anniversary of the birth of Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus, also simply known as Frankenstein. The day commemorates Shelley and her novel, which is seen as a paragon of Gothic horror and science fiction during the Romantic era. Shelley, along with her soon-to-be husband Percy Shelley, and other friends such as poet Lord Byron, decided to compete to see who could come up with the best horror story. READ MORE HERE.

Indeed it would be no exaggeration to claim that Shelley created one of best-known--and perhaps most sympathetic--horror monsters of all time. Immortalized by actor Boris Karloff.....CLICK ON THE PHOTO.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT BORIS KARLOFF? THEN CHECK OUT THIS GREAT POST AND WONDERFUL IMAGES FROM OUR FRIENDS AT EUROPEAN FILM STAR POSTCARDS HERE.

As for author Mary Shelley, she was a fascinating woman, who died tragically from a brain tumor at the age of 53...Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (née Godwin; 30 August 1797 – 1 February 1851) was an English novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer, best known for her Gothic novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).  She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley. Her father was the political philosopher William Godwin, and her mother was the philosopher and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft.

Recent scholarship has yielded a more comprehensive view of Shelley's achievements. Scholars have shown increasing interest in her literary output, particularly in her novels, which include the historical novels Valperga (1823) and Perkin Warbeck (1830), the apocalyptic novel The Last Man (1826) and her final two novels, Lodore (1835) and Falkner (1837).

REMEMBERING CHARLES BRONSON, 1921-2003

Who died this date in 2003. Here's a great post from our friends European Film Star postcards: American actor Charles Bronson (1921-2003) was the archetypal screen tough guy with weather beaten features, often cast in the role of police officer, gunfighter, or convict. He was a man of few words but much action in hits like Machine-Gun Kelly (1958), The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Dirty Dozen (1967). But our favorite is the iconic Spaghetti Western C'era una volta il West/Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). (Claudia Cardinale, Jason Robards, Henry Fonda)--READ AND SEE MORE HERE.
