THE CROTON CHRONICLE--HOW SAFE ARE CROTON'S RESTAURANTS AND OTHER FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS?

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

How safe are Croton's restaurants and other food establishments?
Answer: Better than those in many other Westchester County communities, but there's still room for improvement. We look at the most recent inspections.

MICHAEL BALTER 3/29/24

Let’s start with the good news. Compared with many other communities in Westchester County, Croton-on-Hudson’s food establishments have scored very few so-called “critical violations” during health inspections over the past few years. That happens when county food inspectors deem that immediate action needs to be taken if a food outlet wants to keep operating and avoid exposing customers to food-borne illnesses. That claim cannot be made by towns like New Rochelle, Thornwood, Yonkers, and Mount Kisco, among others, where some restaurants have scored multiple critical violations. SCHOOL ISSUES: THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES---NYS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT EXPLORING SCHOOL LOCKDOWN DRILL MANDATE REFORM

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

NYS education department exploring school lockdown drill mandate reform

"All we're doing is deeply traumatizing children and teachers and parents, for that matter, who have to see their kids simulate their own death four times a year in the classroom setting, which really is outrageous," said Gounardes, a Brooklyn Democrat.

New York's requirement that public school districts hold four lockdown and active shooter drills per year is an outlier compared to other U.S. states, with most completing one or two annually.

Lawmakers and parents continue to recount stories of students who were forced to urinate in containers in front of their classmates during lengthy drills, or young children who become upset or confused an active shooter is real.  MORE AT https://nystateofpolitics.com/state-of-politics/new-york/politics/2024/03/28/n-y--sed-exploring-school-lockdown-drill-mandate-reform?cid=share_email

WHY EVEN ANTI-COP POLS SHOULD SHOW THEIR FACES AT OFFICER DILLER'S FUNERAL TO FEEL NYPD'S PAIN

To those who have asked; numerous communities have their flags at half-mast for Officer Diller.

OPINION PIECE FROM THE NY POST FOLLOWS:

New York City will bury another murdered police officer on Saturday.

Officer Jonathan Diller will receive a dignified, emotional farewell, attended by thousands of police from all over the country.

After the funeral service, his body will be carried from St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church in Massapequa, the casket draped in the green, white and blue NYPD flag, and placed in the funeral hearse.

The uniformed police pallbearers will remove the flag from the casket, fold it into a crisp military style triangle, and solemnly hand the flag to his widow.

A motorcade of several hundred police motorcycles will lead the procession to the cemetery. MORE AT
