Please bookmark this post for updates.

UPDATED--SERVICE INFO FROM CARTER WEBSITE:  Fr. Brian C. Brennan, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, was born in New Rochelle, NY on September 30, 1948, where he attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and high school. After serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he graduated from Cathedral College in Douglaston on Long Island in 1975 and then went to St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY and was ordained to the priesthood at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on November 3, 1979. He served in several parishes, first on Staten Island and then in Westchester and at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He was pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac for 12 years before being assigned as pastor of Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton-on-Hudson. In both of his pastorates he was loved for his compassion, witty homilies and sense of humor. His parents, Peter and Helen Brennan predeceased him. He is survived by the Community of Emmanuel, his seminary classmates and the parishioners of Holy Name of Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either St. John the Evangelist Church or Holy Name of Mary Church. A visitation for Rev. Brian will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. A mass of Christian burial will occur Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. A burial following funeral mass will occur Friday, July 22, 2022 at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 95 Kings Highway, New Rochelle, NY 10801.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.efcarterfuneralhome.com for the Brennan family.

FROM THE 6/5/2022 HOLY NAME OF MARY BULLETIN, page 3: The old wooden cross on the Chapel of the Good Shepherd bell tower fell off recently due to rot. A brand-new cross constructed of tubular aluminum was installed Friday, May 27. AT THE REQUEST OF LOCAL AUTHORS & JOURNALISTS, PART 36, FORMER NYT JOURNALIST, THE GREAT BARI WEISS, STUDENTS REVEAL "FORBIDDEN LESSONS" SERIES---NOW BEING TAUGHT AT ANTI-WOKE UNIVERSITY OF AUSTIN

One of our most popular series continues.....

Fed up with the increasingly woke and intolerant political climate on American campuses, former New York Times columnist Bari Weiss last year announced the launch of The University of Austin, a new four-year college dedicated to “the fearless pursuit of truth.” The college aims to welcome its first class of full-time four-year undergraduates in 2024, and last month, its first summer program, “The Forbidden Courses” series, admitted 80 students from colleges across the US.“This is an insanely intelligent group of people — a genuinely thoughtful, bold group of kids. And it bodes very, very well for the future of the institution,” University of Austin founding faculty member Peter Boghossian told The Post. A former professor at Portland State who came under fire for publishing hoax papers in woke academic journals, Boghossian taught a course at the University of Austin called “Street Epistemology,” about conversational techniques that help people think more critically about deeply-held beliefs.

During the two, week-long summer sessions, funded entirely by donor contributions and held at a temporary location in Dallas, students attended small, discussion-based seminars, such as “Critical Thinking and Freedom of Expression” taught by feminist and activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, alongside shorter workshops, like “How to Be Liberal in an Illiberal Age” taught by Weiss.   Read more of the very highly detailed article at
