All parents and adult community members are invited to join the Cortlandt Community Coalition for a presentation by Pat Aussem, L.P.C., M.A.C. from the Partnership to End Addiction.

Is it typical teen angst and moodiness or is something more going on? Could my child be at risk of self-medicating with alcohol or other drugs? What role does social media play? Join Pat Aussem to learn more about the relationship between mental health and substance use as well as social media's part in influencing behaviors. Parents and other caregivers will have access to a tool that can be used to assess their teen's level of risk when it comes to substance use in addition to ways to address potential risks and concerns. Our 2022-23 Virtual Speaker series continues March 16th!

How a Former Rolling Stone Editor Embarrassed Dems During Twitter Files Hearing--The country’s banking system is teetering, we’re inching closer to war with Russia in Ukraine, and East Palestine, Ohio, is still a mess, so I can see how this exchange might have fallen by the wayside last week. Matt Taibbi testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Taibbi, a former contributing editor for Rolling Stone, opted to go independent, devoting his full-time writing to his successful Substack newsletter. Taibbi has been calling out the liberal media for their serial failures, especially on the Russian collusion hoax. This reporting style has led many progressives to label him pro-Trump and a conservative when he’s anything but those things; Taibbi is a committed liberal.

Yet, he’s also pro-free speech and very wary of the censorship apparatus the political class, intelligence community, and big tech have created—all of which has been documented in the series of stories called the Twitter Files. The evidence confirming conservative bias was unearthed once Elon Musk bought the company.

EDUCATION ISSUES---OREGON HS CLASS HAD TO WRITE SEXUAL FANTASY

An Oregon high school is under fire over an X-rated assignment that asked students to come up with a “sexual fantasy’’ featuring items such as massage oil, flavored syrup and feathers.

Health class students at Churchill High School in Eugene were told to write a short story detailing a “sexual fantasy,’’ including sex toys — as instructed in a syllabus approved by the district, furious parents said.

“You will write a short story of a paragraph or two. This story is a sexual fantasy that will have NO penetration of any kind or oral sex (no way of passing an STI),’’ the assignment read.

“You will choose 3 items (romantic music, candles, massage oil, feather, feather boa, flavored syrup, etc) to use in your story. Your story should show that you can show and receive loving physical affection without having sex.”

An assignment earlier in the year, titled “With Whom Would You Do It?,” had students write the initials of both a boy and a girl in the class with whom they would be willing to perform various acts, including anal and oral sex.  MORE AT

The journal’s editor-in-chief, Kamran Abbasi, argues in the article that evidence supporting treatment for gender-confused children is limited, and that “the weaker or the more disputed the evidence base, the harder it is to offer a clear way forward.”
