MORE ABOUT THOSE MASKS....

No evidence face masks protected vulnerable from Covid, health officials admit
Critics say authorities are failing to prepare for any future pandemics by not examining the effectiveness of masks ByJoe Pinkstone, SCIENCE CORRESPONDENT12 April 2023 • 7:59pm

There is not enough evidence to suggest medical-grade face masks protect vulnerable people from Covid, health officials have admitted.
A rapid review report published by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) investigated if high-quality masks, such as the N95, KN95 and FFP2 coverings, protect clinically vulnerable people in the community from catching Covid.
However, the report was unable to find a single piece of scientific research which had usable data.

“The review did not identify any studies for inclusion, and so could provide no evidence to answer the research question,” the authors state. “No studies matching the inclusion criteria were found, so no evidence could be presented.”

The rapid review looked at 4,371 studies specifically about Covid but there were none that examined the effectiveness of N95 and equivalent face masks as wearer protection against Covid-19 when used in the community by people at higher risk of becoming seriously ill.

The government scientists collected data up until September 2022 and the at-risk groups included people with Down’s Syndrome, some cancer patients and people with immune system disorders.   MORE AT No evidence face masks protected vulnerable from Covid during lockdown, health officials admit (archive.ph)

DECISION ON SITE PLAN FOR HUDSON WELLNESS PROJECT NEAR, EXMINER NEWS

Decision on Site Plan for Hudson Wellness Project Near

The Cortlandt Planning Board is close to rendering a decision on the site plan for a proposed luxury drug and alcohol rehabilitation specialty hospital that has been closely scrutinized for the last eight years.

Last week, planners closed a public hearing on the Hudson Ridge Education and Wellness Center to utilize a 48-acre site on Quaker Ridge Road to serve up to 52 patients, down from 92 that was originally sought in 2015.

The property is near Teatown Lake Reservation, a 1,000-acre nonprofit nature preserve and environmental education center with 15 miles of hiking trails and a two-acre island refuge.

Over time, the application has caught the attention of officials and residents in Ossining and New Castle. New Castle officials have been concerned about increased water and sewer use in the area, and Glendale Road being used by vehicles traveling to the site.

The former Hudson Institute site encompasses 20 acres in Cortlandt and 28 acres in New Castle.

Last April, the Planning Board voted 6-1 to issue a negative declaration under the state Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) stating the project should not have significant adverse environmental impacts. The decision allowed Hudson Wellness Center to avoid preparing a lengthy and costly Environmental Impact Statement.

On Sept. 27, 2022, the Zoning Board of Appeals granted a variance since Town Code requires hospitals in residential zones to be on state roads. Quaker Ridge Road is not a state road. MORE AT Decision on Site Plan for Hudson Wellness Project Near (theexaminernews.com)

CORNELIA COTTON----REMEMBERING THE OLD CROTON AQUEDUCT

Remembering the Old Croton Aqueduct
Robert Brum — April 12, 2023

Manor Scarborough Historical Society will host an upcoming presentation titled, “The Old Croton Aqueduct in Art,” by Cornelia Cotton, who has been collecting prints, maps, and ephemera related to the aqueduct since the 1970s.

The presentation will begin at 2 p.m. April 16 in the Vescio Community Center, 1 Library Road, Briarcliff Manor.

Cotton’s PowerPoint presentation includes a portion of her collection of images inspired by the Old Croton Aqueduct, stretching from Yorktown to City Hall in Manhattan. The aqueduct and Old Croton Dam were built in the 1840s to carry water from Westchester County to New York City. It was in use until around 1965 when it was replaced by the New Croton Aqueduct.

When she first started coming across images of the aqueduct, “not only was I ignorant of it, but so was the general public, and the material I was able to find, nobody wanted.” Cotton said. “The aqueduct was something that had fallen into forgetfulness.”

Cotton added: “It was an amazing thing to people at the time......READ MORE AT Remembering the Old Croton Aqueduct – River Journal Online – News for Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Irvington, Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt and Peekskill

BIDEN DOJ RECOMMENDS NO JAIL TIME FOR TRANS VANDAL OF CATHOLIC CHURCH....

Biden DOJ recommends no jail time for trans vandal of Catholic church: 'F--- Catholics'
Biden's administration previously came down hard on pro-life activists
By Joe Schoffstall | Fox News

President Biden's Justice Department offered what critics are calling a sweetheart plea deal to a vandal who admitted to defacing a Catholic church with profane graffiti, destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, assaulting a church worker, and resisting arrest.

A plea agreement reviewed by Fox News Digital shows that the DOJ recommends zero jail time for the perp, Maeve Nota, a 31-year-old transgender individual who vandalized the St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, following Roe v. Wade's overturning last June.

Nota sharply contrasts with the Biden administration's earlier approach of throwing the book at pro-life protesters outside abortion clinics.  MORE AT https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-doj-recommends-no-jail-time-for-trans-vandal-of-catholic-church-f-catholics
