We were swindled, fooled, bamboozled and lied to during the pandemic. The public-health establishment misled the American people about the value of masking, closures and social distancing. No one has accepted blame. Understanding how badly we failed is not only an inevitable part of the “told you so” process but, more important, a lesson for next time. Just ask the Swedes.

Sweden had zero excess deaths associated with COVID-19. The United States had the most excess deaths of all nations. New York had more than Florida. That’s the whole story right there in a handful of words. Let’s unpack it. MORE FROM PETER VAN BUREN HERE.

CROTON MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES 2022 PLUS A VINTAGE MEMORIAL DAY 2012 PHOTO ALBUM & SCENES FROM THE 2011 CEREMONY VIA TOM FARANDA'S FOLLY

Join American Legion Fox-Eklof Post 505 and the Village of Croton-on-Hudson as we remember those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice on Monday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Corner (Old Post Road South, Cleveland Drive and Radnor Avenue).  In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the gym of Holy Name of Mary Church.

Father Brennan of Holy Name of Mary gave the benediction, while the Knights of Columbus provided free bottles of icy water to stave off the heat. Master of Ceremonies Patrick Calcutti kept everything running smoothly, Eugene Parrotta was a special guest) and the high school band, under the direction of Ivelaw Carrington, did some of their best musical work.
