EDUCATION ISSUES IN THE NEWS: LOUDON COUNTY DAD ARRESTED FOR "TRESPASSING" AT LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL MEETING FOUND NOT GUILTY

Loudoun County Dad Arrested For ‘Trespassing’ At Local Public School Board Meeting Found Not Guilty BY: JORDAN BOYD

A Loudoun County father, whose arrest at a June 2021 school board meeting was used by the Biden administration to justify a politicized attack on concerned parents, was found not guilty of trespassing on Wednesday. Law enforcement arrested Jon Tigges at a Loudoun school board meeting on June 22, 2021, after he tried expressing concerns about the school district’s “moral decay.” A Virginia district judge found Tigges guilty in October of 2021. Loudoun Circuit Judge Douglas Fleming Jr., however, cleared Tigges of any wrongdoing.

Fleming determined that Tigges not only had a First Amendment right to attend the heated meeting but also that the superintendent who shut down the official gathering last summer had no right to declare it an “unlawful assembly.”  MORE AT

ANOTHER ONE FOR YOUR BUCKET LIST---1962, DAVD AND LISA---WITH CROTON'S HOWARD DA SILVA

Just viewed David and Lisa for the second time---a 1962 American drama film directed by Frank Perry. It tells the story of a bright young man suffering from a mental illness which, among other symptoms, has instilled in him a fear of being touched. This lands him in a residential treatment center, where he meets Lisa, a similarly ill young woman who displays a split personality.

The film stars Keir Dullea as David Clemens; Janet Margolin as Lisa Brandt; and Howard Da Silva as Dr. Alan Swinford. He is excellent in the role.

IN THE NEWS: THE BREAK-UP OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

By the end of 2023, the United Methodist Church will be significantly less united. Here's why.

By the end of 2023, the United Methodist Church will be significantly less united, torn asunder by a host of issues but mostly over how to address same-sex marriage and gay clergy. Schism over LGBTQ issues is a well-trodden path for mainline Protestant denominations, and the United Methodists have taken some lessons from the Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and Lutherans. Here's a look at the breakup of the United Methodist Church, why it matters, and where it fits in American Christianity: MORE AT
