Appeals court says Miss USA doesn’t have to allow trans contestants

A federal appeals court panel has ruled that the Miss USA pageant is not obligated to allow men to compete in its annual contest that is explicitly reserved for women.  A three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled 2-1 on Wednesday that Miss USA, doing business as the United States of America Pageants, doesn't have to allow a man who goes by the name Anita Noelle Green of Oregon to compete in its pageant.

Immigration officials confirm that Paul Pelosi attacker is Canadian illegal immigrantm----Immigration officials have confirmed that the attacker of Paul Pelosi is an illegal immigrant and faces possible deportation after federal and state criminal cases are resolved.

The Department of Homeland Security told the Washington Post in an emailed statement on Wednesday that David DePape, 42, is an illegal immigrant from Canada.

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an immigration detainer on Canadian national David DePape with San Francisco County Jail, Nov. 1, following his Oct. 28 arrest,” DHS officials said in the email. Brown University economics professor Emily Oster appeared this week in The Atlantic to petition for a “pandemic amnesty.” As the evidence gets harder to bury that the ruling class’s responses to Covid were, as some of us predicted in March 2020, worse than the disease, Oster wants to deflect rising public acrimony over these devastating leadership failures.

“In the face of so much uncertainty, getting something right had a hefty element of luck. And, similarly, getting something wrong wasn’t a moral failing. Treating pandemic choices as a scorecard on which some people racked up more points than others is preventing us from moving forward,” she writes. “We have to put these fights aside and declare a pandemic amnesty.” MORE AT

Somers School District superintendent shuts down lesson on racism after parents’ complaints--Nov 02, 2022, 8:11pmUpdated 7h ago By: News 12 Staff

A superintendent shut down a lesson on racism in a 10th-grade English class after getting complaints from parents. A teacher at Somers High School was teaching using the book, “Me and White Supremacy,” by Layla Saad. It’s a workbook that encourages people who have white privilege to journal about their views on racism.

 
News 12 was told some students messaged their parents about the lesson and then parents contacted the Somers School District superintendent, who stopped the class mid-lesson. The superintendent says he agrees the lesson was inappropriate. Croton Veterans' Monument at Veterans Corners (intersection of Cleveland Drive and Old Post Road South) 

All residents are invited to join American Legion Fox-Eklof Post 505 in honoring Croton’s veterans on Friday, November 11th. The ceremony will be held at 11 AM at the Croton Veterans’ Monument at Veterans Corners (intersection of Cleveland Dr. and Old Post Rd. S.). In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium at Holy Name of Mary Church.
