IN THE NEWS: FOR FANS OF IVAN PROVOROV, WHO ABSTAINED FROM PRIDE NIGHT

The Liberal Meltdown Over an NHL Player's Abstaining From Pride Night Continues

Matt Vespa | January 19, 2023 3:25 PM

As a New York Rangers fan, I’m not one to come to the defense of any of my Metropolitan division rivals, but the hubbub over Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov has ventured into absurd limits. The Flyers played the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday, Pride Night, where the rainbow tape was broken out—you know the deal. It was a night to celebrate inclusivity, something the Left pushes with the barrel of a gun or a woke mob behind them. Provorov, a Russian Orthodox Christian, eschewed participation, which is his right. You’d think this man gave the Nazi salute with the reactions from the Left. To be inclusive, all must participate remains Orwellian, but that’s beside the point.  MORE FROM TOWNHALL HERE.

CORTLANDT, NY — The former Danish Home for the Aged, closed after 75 years, is a little closer to being able to close its sale to the Gurdjieff Foundation of New York.

The old folks home had only a few dozen residents, and by the end of the pandemic it was no longer viable. The 50-acre property is in a quiet, rural part of Westchester County where Cortlandt, Ossining and New Castle meet. It is zoned for single-family residences, a house of worship or a school.

The sale has been pending as the foundation's request for a required special use permit in a residential area has been before the town Planning Board with wary neighbors scrutinizing the proposal. MORE AT Danish Home Sale To Gurdjieff Foundation Creeps Closer | Ossining, NY Patch

Inside the Facebook Files: Emails Reveal the CDC's Role in Silencing COVID-19 Dissent

Throughout the pandemic, the CDC was in constant contact with Facebook, vetting what users were allowed to say on the social media site.

ROBBY SOAVE | 1.19.2023 6:00 AM

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) played a direct role in policing permissible speech on social media throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Confidential emails obtained by Reason show that Facebook moderators were in constant contact with the CDC, and routinely asked government health officials to vet claims relating to the virus, mitigation efforts such as masks, and vaccines. New NY law bans sale of certain laundry detergents - newyorkupstate.com---STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Several popular laundry detergents are now illegal to sell in New York.

IN THE NEWS: FINALLY -- AN ADMISSION THAT WE'RE OVERCOUNTING CASES---BUT IT'S YEARS TOO LATE, NY POST

Chief COVID crazy finally admits we’re overcounting cases — but it’s years too late

By Post Editorial Board

Had she done less damage to our nation’s most vulnerable, it might be possible to applaud public health “expert” Dr. Leana Wen for her recent admission in The Washington Post and on CNN that the United States has been systematically overcounting the number of deaths from COVID by including deaths with COVID. The true toll of deaths and hospitalization, she notes, may be as little as 30% of the reported numbers.

Horrifying? Yes. But more reason to fight back, tooth and nail, against any future effort to put kids and adults back in masks — as the feds are trying to do for air travel and as two of New Jersey’s largest school districts have done — or to lock down commerce and social life.

Those policies, which had no significant measurable effect on bad outcomes, were always based on junk science. And Dr. Wen just admitted it for the world to hear.  More at Chief COVID crazy finally admits we're overcounting cases — but it's years too late (nypost.com)

GOUVEIA PARK DEBACLE CONTINUES--2023--Request for Interest (RFI) - Gouveia Park--POSTED ON: JANUARY 12, 2023 - 4:20PM

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson has published a Request for Qualifications and Interest (RFI) to seek design ideas to enhance the Village-owned Gouveia Park.

The 15.6 acre site at 1300 Albany Post Road is currently open to residents of the Village and Croton-Harmon School District as a public park. The property was willed to the Village of Croton-on-Hudson in 2015, upon the death of Laurel Gouveia, a longtime Village resident.

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson is looking for examples of sites with park amenities, such as a restaurant. Creativity within the response and past work will be given high consideration. The property is designated municipal parkland, and must be utilized for parkland-related purposes and attractions.

This first phase as an RFI is primarily to receive qualifications and expressions of interest. Click here to view the RFI.
