MAJOR OFFSHORE WIND COMPANY TAKES HUGE LOSSES AFTER STRUGGLING TO GET MORE BIDEN BUCKS

A Danish offshore wind company with major projects in the U.S. has taken huge losses Wednesday after warning about its so-far unsuccessful effort to get more federal subsidies, according to Reuters.  Orsted stated Tuesday that it anticipates that its three developments in U.S. waters may be $2.3 billion less valuable than anticipated, in part because the firm is having trouble receiving more tax credits from the Biden administration, according to Reuters. Other problems the firm’s projects face include supply chain backups and rising interest rates that make refinancing difficult.  MORE AT Major Offshore Wind Company Takes Huge Losses After Struggling To Get More Biden Bucks | The Daily Caller

ABOUT THAT GADSEN FLAG---A 12 YEAR OLD BOY AND HIS MOTHER REFUSE TO BE BULLIED BY WOKE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS

A 12-year-old Boy And His Mother Refuse To Be Bullied By Woke School Administrators And Win

AUGUST 30, 2023 / JACK MARSHALL

Notice the racist symbolism in that symbol above? No? That’s because there isn’t any, but never mind: Jayden Rodriguez, a 12-year-old middle-schooler in Colorado Springs, was kicked out of class at The Vanguard School, a local charter school, because he had a Gadsden flag patch on his backpack. Jayden was told he had to remove the patch before he would be admitted to the class again.

In an email, a school administrator claimed that the patch was “disruptive to the school environment.” Boy, do I ever remember getting upset over the patches fellow classmates had on their backpacks! This was, of course, an example of woke fascism by a teacher and a school, nothing more or less. Further emails from the school told the student’s mother that “some may now see the Gadsden flag as a symbol of intolerance and hate—or even racism.” Oh, well if “some” erroneously associate a historical symbol that had nothing whatsoever to do with slavery or racism as offensive, by all means punish the kid who knows what it really symbolizes.  MORE AT

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — David Anderson was employed as caddie then caddie manager by the Hudson National Golf Club. Now he's suing the club, its operations director, Theron C. Harvey, and its golf director, Del Ponchock, for discrimination and harassment.

Anderson, who is diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder, said in a lawsuit that when the club leadership found out about his diagnosis, they began using it as a weapon against him, specially after he went to them to warn that the club bar continually served members who had become too intoxicated to drive.

The club in Westchester County, which is dotted with top-rated and internationally-known golf courses, opened in 1996 and became known as one of the best in the country, according to Golf Digest magazine. It costs $210,000 to join, according to Links magazine. MORE AT Caddie Sues Hudson National Golf Club For Discrimination: Report | Ossining, NY Patch

LOHUD---DOWNSTATE COUNTIES HAVE HIGHEST RATES OF STUDENTS IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS---CHECK YOUR DISTRICT

Fascinating article on so many levels.....

Excerpted---read it all at the link below

Downstate counties have highest rates of students in private schools. Check your district--Diana Dombrowski
Rockland/Westchester Journal News

The debate over school choice — public funds following students to private schools — is alive and well nationally, but in New York plenty of families fork over their own money for private school tuition without public dollars offsetting the cost.

Counties with the highest percentages of students attending private schools are mostly concentrated downstate, where many families pay high property tax bills along with private school tuition: Rockland with 46%; Orange, 24%; New York (Manhattan), 18%; Sullivan, 11%; Nassau, 11% and Westchester, 10%.

In Westchester, Rockland and Putnam, as of 2021-22, 16 of 54 districts had private school attendance rates greater than 10%. Twenty-two districts had rates less than 5%, (excluding six "special act" districts that don't have any students go to private schools because they were created by the state to serve students with special needs). Many factors contribute to rates of private school attendance: the proximity and accessibility of private schools; religious traditions or traditions of subsequent generations in a family attending the same school; dissatisfaction with public schools or concerns, however valid, over a public school's image.

Whatever the reason, educators understand it's a personal choice for families.

EXCERPTED
The Kyras Joel district in Orange County had the highest percentage of students who attend private schools in the state — just under 98%, according to the data, reported to the state along with other enrollment data the first Wednesday in each October. The district, which has one public school, was created to serve students with disabilities, while other students in the district attend private yeshivas. Then there's East Ramapo, which had the second highest percentage: 76%. Over 30,400 of its almost 40,000 students attended private schools, mainly Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish yeshivas. Most of its over 9,400 public school students are children of color and considered economically disadvantaged. Many are English Language Learners.

Suffern ranks second in the Lower Hudson Valley — and 10th in the state — with over 28% of its students attending private schools in 21-22. While the district's overall population has grown, its public school enrollment has dropped while more students attend Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish yeshivas.

Greenburgh had the third highest percentage of students attending private schools in the region, over 22%, which represented the highest percentage not related to a growing Orthodox population.

EXAMINER NEWS---DEVELOPER STILL PURSUING PLANS FOR NEW HOMELESS SHELTER---PEEKSKILL

Developer Still Pursuing Plans for New Homeless Shelter--August 29, 2023---By Jim Roberts and Rick Pezzullo

Plans to construct a new home for the only homeless shelter in northern Westchester are moving forward despite reports of the property at 1070 Lower South St. in Peekskill being for sale.

“We’re waiting to hear from the DEC [state Department of Environmental Conservation] hopefully in the next couple of weeks and once we have the clearance we’re going to go for permits,” developer Abraham Rosenberg said in a recent phone interview.

Rosenberg’s company, 1070 Park Estates LLC, purchased the narrow four-acre parcel in October 2021 from KMMKM Ltd. for $1.35 million, according to county land records.

KMMKM’s president is Kenneth Cartalemi, son of the late Kenny Cartalemi, who operated the Karta Corp. recycling company for many years in Peekskill. KMMKM retains a $950,000 mortgage on the property.

Rosenberg, whose company is based in Rockland County, came to Peekskill in 2017....MORE AT Developer Still Pursuing Plans for New Homeless Shelter | The Examiner News
