Denied: Westchester Flavored Tobacco Sale Ban Vetoed By County Executive--A ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products in Westchester County has been vetoed by the county's executive after concerns and objections were brought up by numerous groups.

County Executive George Latimer vetoed the ban on Monday, Dec. 12, according to a letter sent to the county's Board of Legislators.

The ban had been passed by the Board on Monday, Nov. 28. However, Latimer cited concerns from numerous groups that the ban would negatively impact communities.

EDUCATION ISSUES: OREGON GOV'T HEALTH SURVEY ASKED 8TH GRADERS IF THEY WERE NON BINARY OR TRANS

The Oregon Health Authority's annual student health survey asked students as young as sixth grade about their sexual orientation and gender identity.  Participation in the survey was voluntary and anonymous, the Oregon Health Authority says on its website. The questionnaire was administered to students in September.  The survey contained numerous questions on student demographics, including race, ethnicity, disabilities, and the behaviors of students' parents.

But one portion of the survey asked students about their sexual orientation, with numerous options, including "asexual or aromantic" and "pansexual," listed. Students were also asked if they identified as "nonbinary," "genderfluid," "agender," or as a "demigirl/demiboy." IN THE NEWS: HOUSE MINORITY REPORT--"PLAUSIBLE" THAT CHINESE MILITARY POSSESSED COVID-19 PRIOR TO PANDEMIC AS PART OF BIO-WEAPONS RESEARCH

A congressional investigation into the origins of COVID-19 has raised the possibility that over 1 million Americans and tens of millions of people worldwide died as a result of bioweapons research conducted by elements of the Chinese military (the People's Liberation Army) with the help of U.S. federal grant money.

In their interim report released Wednesday, Republican members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence concluded that it is "plausible" that Chinese military researchers possessed the COVID-19 virus "as part of bioweapons research" prior to its release into the world as a consequence of a safety incident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The report also suggested that there is "reason to believe that the [intelligence community] downplayed the possibility" that the virus was linked to China's bioweapons program. What are the details?

Several House Republicans issued a joint statement on Wednesday, claiming the minority interim report's "findings identify more culpability from the Chinese Communist Party.....MORE AT House minority report: 'Plausible' that Chinese military possessed COVID-19 prior to pandemic 'as part of bioweapons research' - TheBlaze

KYLEE GRISWOLD---I'M GLAD MY PARENTS LIED TO ME ABOUT SANTA CLAUS

KYLEE GRISWOLD

Dec. 25 falling on a Sunday reminds me of one particularly magical Christmas past.

My age at that time is completely elusive to me now, but suffice it to say I still believed in Santa Claus — yet suspicion was bubbling. When my brother and I awoke that Christmas Sunday to no presents under the tree, my parents didn’t seem half as bothered as we did. They had contacted the North Pole ahead of time, they intoned, to let Santa and his helpers know that since we had plans to attend church in the morning and wouldn’t be opening gifts until after, he could make our house one of his last stops. He probably just hasn’t gotten here yet, they said.  MORE AT I'm Glad My Parents Lied To Me About Santa Claus (thefederalist.com)

IN THE NEWS---ABOUT THAT PANDEMIC COMMISSION

BELTWAY CONFIDENTIAL--The COVID-19 pandemic was a major world event that caused irreparable damage to families across the United States. So why does the Biden administration oppose a commission to examine everything that went wrong?

President Joe Biden supported a 9/11-style commission for the Jan. 6 riot, but for the pandemic that killed over a million people and destroyed small businesses and children’s educations, the New York Times tells us that “the White House is privately resisting” one. This is despite the Senate health committee supporting the commission by a vote of 20-2. Read more at Why does Biden oppose a pandemic commission? | Washington Examiner
