REAL-LIFE ST. NICHOLAS GRAVE DISCOVERED IN TURKEY

Xmas marks the spot.  Turkish researchers claim they’ve located the tomb of St. Nicholas, the real-life figure who inspired Santa Claus, under a 5th-century church in Turkey. 

While it’s long been known that St. Nick was buried in Turkey’s Antalya province, the holy man’s remains were pilfered around 700 years after his death, so his exact burial spot was unknown — until now....more at Real-life St. Nicholas' grave discovered in Turkey (nypost.com)

Westchester County's bus line is "antiquated, under-performing, inefficient and unaccountable," says a brand-new report by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign.

According to the nonprofit's report from October, the bus line, also known as the Bee-Line, underperforms in metrics including expense per vehicle, and "deadhead hours," or how many hours a bus is not in service to pick up passengers.

IMPORTED FROM THE USA: BURT LANCASTER - Fame came to Burt Lancaster (1913-1994) with his first film role, as the doomed Swede in Universal's The Killers (1946), but the former circus acrobat knew better than to leave his career in other hands. After less than two years in Hollywood, Lancaster formed his own production company and took the lead in such popular successes as the Technicolor swashbucklers The Flame and the Arrow (1950) and The Crimson Pirate (1952), and the Western Vera Cruz (1954). The athletic and handsome Lancaster remained a box office draw for 20 years, winning a 1961 Academy Award for playing the corrupt evangelist Elmer Gantry (1960). REGARDING THE WEDNESDAY EXCITEMENT AT THE CROTON-HARMON TRAIN STATION, A REPORT FROM YOUR ALL VOLUNTEER CROTON FIRE DEPT.

FROM THE COTON FIRE DEPT. FB PAGE - At 6pm Wednesday, we were alerted to our third incident of the day - a reported rubbish fire or fire involving the 700 Volt Third Rail at Croton-Harmon Railroad Station.

Units arrived and were coordinating efforts to extinguish a small rubbish fire on Track #3 underneath the Station when a Metro-North employee reported a train on fire about a quarter mile north.

Units then redirected to this location, finding an occupied train that had an electrical fire in the locomotive car. Members advanced a hose line thru a parking area and woods to the tracks and stood by while other personnel checked for any fire extension. MNRR personnel brought in another train to offload the stranded passengers while CFD personnel worked with MNRR personnel to mitigate the situation.

After an hour, the incident was placed under control and Croton FD units began to pick up & return to service. SEE A PHOTO HERE.
