NEA head Becky Pringle made $500K while fighting for COVID school closures: taxes--The head of the most prominent teachers’ union in the United States raked in more than $500,000 in pay as the group showered liberal causes with money and fought to keep schools closed during the pandemic, tax forms provided to Fox News Digital show. Becky Pringle, president of the National Education Association (NEA), the country’s largest teachers’ union, pocketed $534,243 in compensation from the NEA and its related organizations between September 2020 and August 2021, an increase of $25,000 from the previous calendar year, newest tax forms show.  MORE AT THE NY POST HERE.

A MESSY METHODIST CHURCH SCHISM, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Theological schisms are never pretty. The United Methodist Church—America’s third-largest religious body, with over 6.2 million members—is in the thick of its own over its teachings on sexuality. Hundreds of congregations have voted to leave the denomination, which had 13 million members world-wide as of 2020, and thousands more likely will. On Aug. 7, United Methodism’s second- and seventh-largest churches by attendance, both in the Houston area, voted to quit the denomination.

What brought United Methodism to this divide was its decision-making body’s 2019 “Traditional Plan”—a document that affirmed its ban on same-sex marriage and mandated that all clergy be celibate if single and monogamous if married. That sets the church apart from nearly every other mainline Protestant denomination. The traditionalists won thanks to votes from conservative African delegates, whose churches have grown by millions even as the U.S. has declined by nearly the same magnitude.

IT'S WORLD PHOTO DAY--CELEBRATING THE DAGUERROTYPE

On August 19, 1839, in Paris, France, the French government bought the patent for the recently created daguerreotype process, the first practical photographic process, and announced that it would be a gift "free to the world." The anniversary of this event is observed as World Photo Day. It is a time when photographers around the globe—both professional photographers and amateur photography enthusiasts—share their work with the world. Australian photographer Korske Ara came up with the idea for World Photo Day in 2009, with the intent of bringing together local and global communities to celebrate photography. Croton Caring completed another round of its Birthday Club Program with volunteers delivering a bouquet of flowers donated by Upper Village Blooms, a student-made card and homemade chocolate chip cookies to seventeen Croton senior citizens.
