IT'S WORLD PHOTO DAY--CELEBRATING THE DAGUERROTYPE

On August 19, 1839, in Paris, France, the French government bought the patent for the recently created daguerreotype process, the first practical photographic process, and announced that it would be a gift "free to the world." It is a time when photographers around the globe—both professional photographers and amateur photography enthusiasts—share their work with the world. The first World Photo Day took place on August 19, 2010.  READ MORE AT World Photo Day | Holiday | Checkiday.com
