We love perusing old magazine ads---and it's even more fun when you stumble upon something with a Croton reference--HERE's A 1901 AD FOR CELERY KING, NATURE'S CURE--IT MADE A NEW WOMAN OUT OF CROTON'S MRS. KLEEHAMMER! Click on the photo. (And fyi, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, “patent medicines” were popular elixirs, salves, and pills. These so-called “cure-alls” claimed to ease a wide range of ailments....Some of the well-known patent medicines from that era included Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral, Old Dr. Townsend’s Sarsaparilla, and Paine’s Celery Compound)

New Castle’s West End Residents Upset at Proposed Water Protection Regs
A contingent of residents from New Castle’s West End expressed frustration last week that their property may be subject to new water-protection restrictions if the town agrees to a proposed multi-municipality agreement.
There are 102 properties that lie within the proposed Indian Brook-Croton Gorge Watershed Protection Overlay District in New Castle that also includes portions of Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson and the town and village of Ossining. It was first discussed in 2007 and 2008 as part of a conservation action plan proposed by New York State to help protect an environmentally sensitive area. Re-Paving Riverview Street in Verplanck
Release Date: June 21, 2024
Please be advised that milling and paving operations are scheduled to begin on Riverview Street (from Kings Ferry Road to Broadway) on or about July 1, 2024. The work should take 2-3 days to complete. This work is weather dependent and scheduling is subject to change. No parking will be in effect along the road or parking areas of Riverview Street (from Kings Ferry Road to Broadway). No Parking will be in effect during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm on the days the work is being performed. The No Parking areas do not include the Town Park or parking lots. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Road is scheduled to remain open and passable to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
