Village seniors welcome summer with a festive lunch at the Croton Yacht Club.

Eating, drinking (soft drinks), gambling, and chin-wagging were the main activities at this exclusive event, open to those who have ripened to full maturity (60+ years.)

Despite the heat, or perhaps because of it—the Croton Yacht Club is nicely air conditioned—some 70 members of Croton’s Senior Club gathered on Friday, June 21, for their annual “Welcome Summer” lunch. It was a lively event, as are all Senior Club activities, such as the weekly Friday meetings at the Municipal Building or bus tours to far-flung places such as the New York Botanical Gardens.

THE CROTON CHRONICLE: The last Board of Education meeting of the school year is notable for what the trustees did not (publicly) discuss.

School workers and their supporters made another show of force, while the Board discussed their contract negotiations in an hour long executive session. No mention of the lawsuit against the district.

Early turnout for Bowman-Latimer race surges with more than 14,000 Westchester votes

More than 14,000 Westchester County voters already have cast ballots in robust early turnout for the primary battle between Rep. Jamaal Bowman and Westchester County Executive George Latimer for Bowman's House seat.

That included 9,904 Democrats in New York's 16th Congressional District who voted in person over five days from last Saturday through Wednesday, with four more days of early voting to go before Tuesday's election, according to voting records provided to the USA Today Network by Westchester's Board of Elections. Anouk Aimée (1932-2024)

On 18 June 2024, glamorous French film actress Anouk Aimée (1932) passed away at her home in Paris. She appeared in 70 films since 1947 and worked with many talented directors. She had major international successes in the 1960s with Lola (1961) and Un homme et une femme/A Man and a Woman (1966) in which she defined a new kind of modern heroine.
