WITH MENTION OF WESTCHESTER, EVEN THE NY TIMES SEES THE MADNESS OF KEEPING PARENTS IN THE DARK AS KIDS TRANSITION

Even the New York Times sees the madness of keeping parents in the dark as kids transition

lot of parents, The New York Times’ Katie J.M. Baker reports, are upset that schools fostered their kids’ gender transition without telling them. Imagine that.

This is progress for the Times, with its hyperprogressive biases. And of course the piece gives plenty of voice to the advocates who support keeping parents in the dark, if that’s what the kids want.

Crucially, though, Baker admits that the question of “how schools should address gender identity cuts through the liberal and conservative divide,” even quoting a therapist, herself trans, who finds herself working with right-wing lawyers on this one cause.

And Baker visits a support group for mostly-liberal Westchester parents who “said they had been sidelined by their children’s schools.” Some “didn’t think their teenagers were really transgender. Others thought it was too soon to know for certain. Most said their children had mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder, or autism.”

COVID-19: Hudson Valley School District Asks Hochul Not To Mandate Vaccine For Students

A school district in the Hudson Valley has sent a letter to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul asking her not to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for public school students.

The letter, sent on Monday, Jan. 23 by the Brewster Central School District's Board of Education in Putnam County, was sent in the wake of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommending that the COVID vaccine be received by all children younger than 18.

School officials also recognized that there may be proposed legislation that would mandate the vaccine for all New York public school students. More at COVID-19: Hudson Valley School District Asks Hochul Not To Mandate Vaccine For Students | Cortlandt Daily Voice

DEVELOPMENT ISSUES---YESHIVA APPEALS AFTER BRIARCLIFF DENIES PERMIT FOR PACE CAMPUS

BRIARCLIFF MANOR--Yeshiva Appeals after Briarcliff Denies Permit for former Pace Campus==`1/23/2023--Lawyers for a proposed yeshiva are appealing Briarcliff Manor’s denial of a special permit to operate a school for up to 350 college-age men on the former Pace University campus.

Representatives for Monsey-based Yeshivath Viznitz Dkhal Torath Chaim are before the village’s Zoning Board of Appeals in an effort to overturn the decision by village Building Inspector David J. Turiano or seek a variance.

Turiano’s Nov. 4, 2022, denial states that the yeshiva’s application doesn’t meet village code because the 37-acre campus at 235 Elm Road is located in a residential zone on what the state Department of Transportation classifies as a local road and not a state, county, arterial or collector road.

That stipulation was put in the village code adopted in spring of 2021 regarding special permits to ensure that residential neighborhoods retain their character.
