FLAG DAY IS JUNE 14TH....NOW MORE THAN EVER...It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The United States Army also celebrates the Army Birthday on this date; Congress adopted "the American continental army" after reaching a consensus position in the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 1775. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

EDUCATION ISSUES IN THE NEWS: FOR THOSE FOLLOWING "ANYTOWN LEARNING"

High school club asked students how they knew they were straight----The exercise also asks: "Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?"

A student leadership and diversity club in a Phoenix-area school district asked students a series of questions on their sexuality, including how they knew they were straight.  The question was part of a program used by the Unitown Club in the Scottsdale Unified School District to discuss sexual orientation with students, according to emails released by the Arizona Daily Independent. The club's description contains no reference to sexual education.
