SERVICE INFO AND OBITUARY FOR KAREN ANN BIGLIN

Karen Ann Biglin, a longtime resident of Croton-on-Hudson, New York died peacefully Friday, January 20, 2023. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on September 3, 1943. Karen grew up in Yonkers, New York.

She contracted polio at only 5 years of age & overcame her disability, getting a masters degree in Education from Mercy College.

She taught grade school within the Yonkers school system for a number of years & was adored by all of her students & all those who knew Karen.

Karen had a passion for reading, crafting and loved animals! Her faithful Shih Tzu “Faith-Ann” was always by her side.

She is survived by her beloved sister Patricia and her brother George (Joan). Nieces DeAnne and Megan. Her great nephews and great niece & her dear friends Lorraine & Jim.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.

A visitation for Karen will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Following reports of Virginia schools failing to promptly notify National Merit Award recipients, Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears called out "rogue educators" and teachers unions for trying to "remake education."

"We have a group of rogue educators. You've heard it's not just one school, nor five schools, nor 10 — 17," Sears said Saturday on "Cavuto Live." "Count them, 17 schools who have made decisions that they are going to remake education in their own image, and they are using our children to do it."

Seventeen schools reportedly delayed notifying students who received National Merit Awards, despite claims it was originally a clerical error at one of the schools in Fairfax County. The controversy expanded to Loudoun and Prince Williams Counties.
