IN THE NEWS----WHILE SILICON VALLEY BANK COLLAPSED, TOP EXEC PUSHED WOKE PROGRAMS

While Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, top executive pushed ‘woke’ programs==A head of risk management at Silicon Valley Bank spent considerable time spearheading multiple “woke” LGBTQ+ programs, including a “safe space” for coming out stories, as the firm catapulted toward collapse. 1949 HARMON HIGHWAY & STATION PLAN

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

1949 HARMON HIGHWAY & STATION PLAN--Click on the photo, This 1949 plan, predating the Route 9 plan by more than a decade, was designed to create better highway access and parking for what was then called the Harmon Station and also a new highway to Croton Point Park. In addition to the complete plan, we’ve cropped out details to show:
NEW HARMON STATION
The new station and parking area would have been north of Croton Point Avenue and required destroying much of the area long South Riverside Avenue that was later removed for Route 9. Note that the bridge across the railroad property that we use today would have been “abandoned as a public highway” and a new access road would have been created to the south.
In 1949 air travel was more limited than it is today. A newspaper editorial lauding the plan to increase parking and highway access noted that “a great many Westchester residents have found it convenient and time-saving to use the Harmon Station for upstate and Western trips.”
NEW HIGHWAY TO CROTON POINT PARK==The 1949 plan would have retained the old Route 9 bridge near Van Cortlandt Manor, but would have added a second bridge and highway that would have diverted traffic heading for the station. Exits from both Route 9 and the new highway would connect to a new road out to Croton Point Park. On the left side of the detail you can see the Starlight Drive-In property, indicated by “auto theater. MORE AT Facebook
