NEW FROM TRAVALANCHE: PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES, R.I.P. MARK MILLER

I may well have never done a post on this topic, but a tweet from Penelope Ann Miller conveyed the news that her father, actor Mark Miller (1924-2022) just passed away on September 9, and I found all these resonances, including the fact that the centennial of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies author Jean Kerr’s birth was just a few weeks ago. IN THE NEWS: DENMARK ENDS COVID VACCINATIONS FOR ALMOST EVERYONE UNDER 50

Remember mandatory vaccinations? This is, well, the opposite. We've come a long way in a year. Except at American colleges - which, insanely, are forcing mRNA boosters on students.

Alex Berenson

Denmark will bar almost everyone under 50 from receiving more mRNA Covid jabs, the Danish Health Authority said yesterday.

Denmark had already ended Covid shots for nearly everyone under 18. The new rules go much further.

Danes under 50 will only be allowed to receive the shots if they are “higher risk of becoming severely [emphasis added] from Covid-19.”

The Danish Health Authority has not yet defined those groups, but they will likely include only a handful of people, such as those receiving cancer treatments that suppress their immune systems. Pregnant women are unlikely to be included.

Denmark did not explicitly say the risks of mRNA jabs now outweigh their benefits for healthy people under 50.

But that view is implicit in the announcement....READ MORE AT Denmark ENDS Covid vaccinations for almost everyone under 50. (substack.com)

1985: ELENI, A FILM FOR THE BUCKET LIST & A TIMELY MESSAGE STILL RELEVANT TODAY

Watched 1985's ELENI" again.  It's not an easy film to view but it is so worth your time especially given so much of what is happening today.

It's another film for the bucket list....

The 1985 film adaptation of the memoir Eleni by Greek-American journalist Nicholas Gage. The film starred John Malkovich, Kate Nelligan, Linda Hunt and Glenne Headly.

It is not a perfect film, but the plot-line and acting is nothing short of superb---and all that makes up for any deficiencies in direction.

The film is told in a flashback format with Gage, played by a very young Malkovich, now living in the United States, returning to his native Greece to solve the mystery of his mother's death when he was a child.

The film looks back to the effect of the 1940s Greek Civil War on the remote Greek region of his childhood upbringing. He investigates what happened to his mother after Communist guerrillas of the Democratic Army of Greece (ΔΣΕ) invade the village of Lia.

Determined to protect her children from Communist indoctrination--in school, at work, from the blurring of traditional gender roles and so much more---she makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Both the book and the film are highly recommended.
