The Little Newspapers That Could and the Big Newspapers That Don’t: A Special Report on Journalism in the Region

New York State has been colonized, almost 250 years after the Revolutionary War. Out-of-state publishers have claimed ownership of many of the state’s newspapers, from Binghamton to Buffalo.

The only interest these publishers seem to have in the communities they claim to serve is how much profit they can milk from their properties, cutting staff to as few reporters as possible while keeping a straight face that they are putting out a newspaper with the purpose of letting readers know what’s going on with their schools, governments and businesses. Nashville Shooter Targeted Children with 'White Privilege' Story by Michael Schwarz •

11h Replace the "white" in "white privilege" with "Jewish," and you have Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf."

Small wonder, therefore, that a troubled mind might absorb the establishment media's rhetoric of anti-white hatred and use it to fuel a massacre.

Monday morning, on X, formerly Twitter, conservative commentator Steven Crowder reported that he had obtained exclusive access to the Nashville school shooter's long-hidden manifesto. MORE AT Nashville Shooter Targeted Children with 'White Privilege' (msn.com)

IN THE NEWS---"SECRET REPORTS" REVEAL HOW GOVERNMENT WORKED TO "CENSOR AMERICANS PRIOR TO 2020

‘Secret reports’ reveal how government worked to ‘censor Americans’ prior to 2020 election

"the federal government and universities pressured social media companies to censor true information, jokes, and political opinions."

"This pressure was largely directed in a way that benefitted one side of the political aisle: true information posted by Republicans and conservatives was labeled as 'misinformation' while false information posted by Democrats and liberals was largely unreported and untouched by the censors," the report noted. "The pseudoscience of disinformation is now – and has always been – nothing more than a political ruse most frequently targeted at communities and individuals holding views contrary to the prevailing narratives." AND NOW BY SPECIAL REQUEST: THE MILITARY ART OF H. CHARLES McBARRON, IN HONOR OF VETERANS DAY

Welcome to The New EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EverythingCroton.

The Croton Historical Society is a wonderful repository of donated and discovered items, it's archives lovingly maintained by the volunteers. We were reminded of this again when a reader asked about a "set of military prints" that your editor had scanned and posted back in 2012. Here they are again--THE AMERICAN SOLDIER--in honor of the upcoming Veterans Day.

Trigger Alert: If these kinds of images give you the vapors, then just move along. For everyone else....

The artist, H. Charles McBarron, the "dean of American military artists" was commissioned to create the series depicting American fighting men at various periods in our country's history. No effort had been spared to ensure that uniforms, arms, and equipment were portrayed with accuracy. While known for his military illustrations, McBarron also produced such popular-culture icons as Captain Midnight, the Jolly Green Giant and Buster Brown. McBarron was supposedly a frequent visitor to the village but this remains unconfirmed.

With respect to the military art below, your editor only got as far as 1965 and hopes to get the rest online one day. These scanned prints BELOW start with WWI--1918 and end with 1965. Click on the photos and enjoy the level of detail.
