TOWN OF CORTLANDT EXHIBIT--TOWARDS ABSTRACTION---JOSEPH MIDDLEBROOKS

Welcome to the New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

TOWN OF CORTLANDT EXHIBIT--TOWARDS ABSTRACTION---JOSEPH MIDDLEBROOKSThis week’s featured artist from the exhibition, Towards Abstraction, now on view at Town Hall is Joseph Middlebrooks. Joseph’s works expand the boundaries of painting. Instead of traditional pigment suspended in a medium and applied to a surface with a brush, Joseph’s paintings are first executed in a virtual space. Using technology as an intermediary Joseph employs the same gestures and marks as a traditional painter to realize his compositions. His artist’s hand is further removed from the works with the printer becoming his brush resulting in works that read both as paintings and prints.

“I am a Military Veteran who served 13 years in the army. I've deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. Art has always been and continues to be extremely therapeutic to me.” – Joseph Middlebrooks

NEW OPEN RECORDS PROVIDE THE U.S. TAXPAYERS FUNDED RESEARCH AT THE WUHAN INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY

Report: U.S. Taxpayers Bankrolled Dangerous Research By ‘Covid Patients Zero’ In Wuhan  BY: EVITA DUFFY-ALFONSO
JUNE 19, 2023

New open records prove the U.S. taxpayers funded research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology for ‘Covid Patients Zero.’

EVITA DUFFY-ALFONSO

A hypothesis about the origins of Covid-19 censored by Big Tech and labeled a “conspiracy” by corporate media, the federal government, and World Health Organization (WHO) is now backed by new evidence. Documents obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request show U.S. taxpayers funded the research of three Wuhan Institute of Virology lab staffers in China whom U.S. officials told reporters are “patients zero” for Covid-19.

This adds evidence to the “lab leak theory.” That hypothesis says the deadly virus that provided the justification for unprecedented worldwide government curtailments of civil liberties was created in a Chinese lab with U.S. government funding.

In 2021, the U.S. State Department confirmed that in the fall of 2019, China-based researchers conducting coronavirus animal experiments fell ill with Covid-19-like symptoms, and three became so sick they had to be hospitalized. On Tuesday, journalists Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag released a report on Substack identifying the three sick Wuhan lab staffers as Ben Hu, Yu Ping, and Yan Zhu, according to an unnamed U.S. government source.

If these individuals are indeed the first to get sick with Covid-19, that adds to the growing evidence the U.S. government funded the Chinese research that unleashed this virus on the world.........More evidence for what has been called the “lab leak theory” spells bad news for a number of powerful people, including former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci and Peter Daszak. NIAID funneled funds for the Wuhan research through Daszak’s nonprofit, EcoHealth Alliance.

In an email made public via open records requests, Daszak thanked Fauci for publicly dismissing the lab-leak theory, even though emails show Fauci was informed the virus possessed “unusual features” that “potentially look engineered.”  MORE AT Report: U.S. Funded Research Of ‘Covid Patients Zero’ In Wuhan (thefederalist.com)

STARBUCKS LEARNS -- MUST PAY FORMER REGIONAL MANAGER SHANNON PHILLIPS $25.6 MILLION

by Christopher Tremoglie, Commentary Writer--June 20, 2023 06:21 AM

A few years ago, after one of my classes at the University of Pennsylvania, I walked over to Body Cycle Studio on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. I arrived before the studio opened and figured I’d kill time at the nearby Starbucks.

While there, I asked to use the restroom but was told by an employee that lavatories were for customers only and that I couldn’t stay in the store if I did not buy anything. I left the coffee shop and waited outside the cycling studio until it opened.

This happened shortly before the infamous incident at Starbucks in Philadelphia in which two black men, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, were asked to leave for the same reason I was and were arrested when they refused. When it was requested that Nelson and Robinson stop loitering, it was because of racism; when I was asked to leave, it was because of Starbucks’s policy. Their incident caused national outrage, whereas I couldn’t pay anyone in the media to report about mine. It was yet another example of the toxic double standard on race that exists in the country.

Starbucks learned this the hard way. Now, the coffee company has 25.6 million reasons not to succumb to anti-white discrimination or the whims of the radical left-wing sociocultural mob in the future. Shannon Phillips, the former regional manager in charge of the location where the men were arrested, was awarded.......MORE AT Starbucks learns that anti-white discrimination doesn’t pay | Washington Examiner

There once was a time when a cedar chest was part and parcel of that future wedding, to be passed down from one daughter to the next, and slowly filled with all those “wedding” things the future bride would need.

Sadly this practice has all but disappeared, and so when a friend was approached by her niece to help her find a vintage “cedar chest” to mark the start of a two year engagement, we were all thrilled to see the tradition revived. Of course only one word came to mind: LANE.  This one was actually found back in 2019 and restored---it was niece approved.

ONE MORE TIME --- ABOUT THOSE DRAG QUEENS---VILLAGE SET TO MODIFY ADULT ENTERTAINMENT LAW

Welcome to the New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

This blog continues to receive many questions and comments regarding the board/village's intent to change the cabaret/adult entertainment law to accommodate drag queen story hours. These questions are best directed to the village staff and/or officials at the public hearing---currently scheduled for next Monday. Additional info via the Gazette:

Many thanks to The Gazette for their very thorough article on this issue in their most recent edition, only a portion of which is included here--click on the image.

The paper does not have an online presence but is sold just about everywhere. You are encouraged to read the article in its entirety as the village board appears ready to change the adult entertainment law to accommodate "drag queen" story hour.

The board is set to have a public hearing on this issue on next Monday; residents should get in their written comments--if they are not going to attend---to the village and/or the paper, well before then.

Residents who have expressed concerns here about the possibility of this activity occurring within a certain distance from assorted local nursery/child care businesses and churches must send those comments to village officials, etc. not anonymously here.

THIS POST IS CLOSED TO ALL COMMENTS.
