FBI HQ Retracting Richmond Field Office Document Targeting ‘Radical Traditionalist Catholics’

The Richmond FBI office relied on the Southern Poverty Law Center and articles from Salon and The Atlantic to justify targeting these “radicals.”

The FBI headquarters retracted and disavowed the document:

The FBI tells the Caller that the document, put forward by the Richmond field office, “does not meet the exacting standards of the FBI” and that the Bureau will be conducting an internal review.

“Upon learning of the document, FBI Headquarters quickly began taking action to remove the document from FBI systems and conduct a review of the basis for the document,” the agency told the Caller. “The FBI is committed to sound analytic tradecraft and to investigating and preventing acts of violence and other crimes while upholding the constitutional rights of all Americans and will never conduct investigative activities or open an investigation based solely on First Amendment protected activity.”

Who did the Richmond FBI office trust? The Southern Poverty Law Center, of course! Because we all know that group is so reliable.

IN THE NEWS: MOM FUMING AS DAUGHTER 13 GETS CHEST BINDER AT SCHOOL, URGED NOT TO TELL PARENTS

The blog has been receiving quite a few questions about this issue.  For the moment, we will let the article do the talking--additional questions should be addressed to the school district and/or the media sources cited.

Mom fuming as daughter, 13, gets chest binder at school — and is urged not to tell parents--A Maine mom has called for an investigation into her 13-year-old daughter’s school after she claims a social worker gave the teen a gender-transitioning device known as a “chest binder” and encouraged her to keep it secret from her parents.  Amber Lavigne, of Damariscotta, told the National Review that she found her daughter’s chest-flattening garment in December and confronted the teen, who claimed a friend gave it to her. EXAMINER NEWS--CORTLANDT TOWN BOARD TO DISCUSS MOD PROJECTS FEB. 13

Cortlandt Town Board to Discuss MOD Projects Feb. 13
February 9, 2023 Rick Pezzullo Cortlandt

The Cortlandt Town Board will be discussing the Medical Oriented District (MOD) on Monday, February 13 at 7 p.m. for the first time since residents weighed-in on two pending projects in November.

While residents are welcome to attend the work session, no public comment will be allowed as the board deliberates among themselves and staff. The board is expected to outline the next steps of the process.

Residents who live in the neighborhood near New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital on Route 202 in Cortlandt have been expressing concerns over different alternatives for two projects in the proposed Medical Oriented District (MOD).

Evergreen Manor, headed by local developer Val Santucci, has taken the brunt of criticism from residents who maintain it’s too dense and does not comply with the spirit of the MOD, a new zoning district that the Town Board is considering establishing. MORE AT

THE NY TIMES--- AT IT AGAIN....

The New York Times Warns That Freedom of Speech 'Threatens Public Health' and 'Democracy Itself'

The paper is unfazed by First Amendment objections to the Biden administration's crusade against "misinformation" on social media.

JACOB SULLUM | 2.9.2023 6:20 PM

Are federal officials violating the First Amendment when they pressure social media companies to suppress "misinformation"? That is the question posed by a federal lawsuit that the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana filed last May.

New York Times reporter Steven Lee Myers warns that the lawsuit "could disrupt the Biden administration's already struggling efforts to combat disinformation." He worries that "the First Amendment has become, for better or worse, a barrier to virtually any government efforts to stifle a problem that, in the case of a pandemic, threatens public health and, in the case of the integrity of elections, even democracy itself." As Myers frames the issue, freedom of speech is a threat to "public health" and "even democracy itself." MORE AT The New York Times Warns That Freedom of Speech Is a Threat (reason.com)

The book is not a compelling read but is still very much worth your time.
