BY SPECIAL REQUEST---FROM 2013--DEDICATION OF THE JAMES R. MOORE GYNMNASIUM AT HOLY NAME OF MARY

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

BY SPECIAL REQUEST---FROM 2013--DEDICATION OF THE JAMES R. MOORE GYNMNASIUM AT HOLY NAME OF MARY

Current and former Croton residents gathered together today at Holy Name of Mary to honor Jim Moore – and to celebrate the dedication of Holy Name's Gym in his honor--now to be forever known as The James R. Moore Gymnasium.

Moore has made significant contributions to the Croton and Holy Name of Mary communities. He founded the HNM CYO basketball program in 1965 and served as director/coach for 24 years. Additionally, Jim founded the Croton Flag Football program in 1968 and the Croton Recreation Basketball Program in 1969. He was a minor league and little league baseball coach in the 60’s and 70’s, and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1951. He has also been an active member of the council since moving to Croton in 1960, and has served as its Grand Knight for 3 years.

(On another note, Jim was also a tireless advocate for the successful grass roots closure of the Metro Enviro transfer station. He helped spearhead resistance among Croton's seniors to a planned village deal that would have permitted the station to remain open despite numerous violations. When a second attempt was made to re-open the site to yet another troubled operator, Jim Moore was right there with the rest of his fellow citizens--helping our officials to just say no.)

Click on the photos to see only some of the day's event below. With thanks as well to all those businesses who contributed to today's raffle: Grouchy Gabe's, Capriccio's II, Memphis Mae's and The Sarcone Law Firm. Additional photos will be sent to the parish office, all photos all rights reserved.
