ABOUT THE COCHRANE STUDY, ANOTHER VIEW.....

The question of whether and to what extent face masks work to prevent respiratory infections such as COVID and influenza has split the scientific community for decades.

Although there is strong evidence face masks significantly reduce transmission of such infections both in health-care settings and in the community, some experts do not agree. Article sent by MIchael Balter.......Read it at

IN THE NEWS: IT'S TIME FOR THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY TO ADMIT WE WERE WRONG ABOUT COVID AND IT COST LIVES

OPINION--It's Time for the Scientific Community to Admit We Were Wrong About COVID and It Cost Lives | Opinion

KEVIN BASS , MS MD/PHD STUDENT, MEDICAL SCHOOL
ON 1/30/23 AT 8:00 AM EST

As a medical student and researcher, I staunchly supported the efforts of the public health authorities when it came to COVID-19. I believed that the authorities responded to the largest public health crisis of our lives with compassion, diligence, and scientific expertise. I was with them when they called for lockdowns, vaccines, and boosters.

I was wrong. We in the scientific community were wrong. And it cost lives.

I can see now that the scientific community from the CDC to the WHO to the FDA and their representatives, repeatedly overstated the evidence and misled the public about its own views and policies, including on natural vs. artificial immunity, school closures and disease transmission, aerosol spread, mask mandates, and vaccine effectiveness and safety, especially among the young. All of these were scientific mistakes at the time, not in hindsight. Amazingly, some of these obfuscations continue to the present day.

But perhaps more important than any individual error was how inherently flawed the overall approach of the scientific community was, and continues to be. It was flawed in a way that undermined its efficacy and resulted in thousands if not millions of preventable deaths. MORE FROM NEWSWEEK AT

127 YEARS AGO TODAY--FROM THE CROTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY FB PAGE--THE CROTON DAM

This photograph, dated February 7, 1896, shows the state of the New Croton Dam site roughly three and a half years after construction began. It took that long to divert the flow of the Croton River (shown in the foreground) and dig the gigantic hole for the foundation. The first masonry in the foundation wasn't laid until May 26, 1896. Major Media Outlets Mum On New Study Showing Masks Make ‘Little To No Difference’ In Stopping COVID-19--Story by Mary Lou Masters • Yesterday 4:08 PM

A recent study found that wearing masks isn’t effective in preventing how many people catch COVID-19 or other flu-like illnesses, and most major news outlets aren’t covering it.

The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews published the study, whose intent was to find how effective “physical interventions,” like wearing masks and washing hands, are in stopping the spread of these viruses. Though they found wearing masks isn’t effective, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic and others continue to report studies that say they are.

“Wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of influenza-like illness (ILI)/COVID-19 like illness compared to not wearing masks,” the study found.  MORE AT Major Media Outlets Mum On New Study Showing Masks Make ‘Little To No Difference’ In Stopping COVID-19 (msn.com)
