Tarrytown resident Anand Singh, age 33, was arrested on Monday, May 1, and charged with attempting to meet a person who he thought was a 14-year-old girl at an apartment building in Newark, New Jersey for sex, according to the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

According to federal officials, Singh, a former employee of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, began using an app called "Hily" to message an individual posing as a 14-year-old girl in December 2022.

Singh would allegedly send text messages and messages over "Hily" to entice the individual to engage in sexual activity with him and used the screen name "Anon" to do so.

In these communications, Singh expressed "in graphic and unambiguous terms" his desire to engage in sexual activity with the individual and made a plan to meet them at their apartment building in Newark to do so, federal officials said.  MORE AT Details Released: Ex-Aide To Former Westchester BOL Chair Tried Meeting Teen For Sex, Feds Say | Cortlandt Daily Voice

United Methodist bishops meet, look to pivot after 2,400+ churches disaffiliate
Story by Religion News Service • 1h ago

CHICAGO (RNS) — About 100 active and retired United Methodist bishops from across the globe are meeting this week in Chicago for the first time in person since the COVID-19 pandemic and since the launch one year ago of the Global Methodist Church, a conservative denomination formed for United Methodist churches looking to disaffiliate over LGBTQ ordination and marriage.

Bishop Thomas Bickerton told the United Methodist Church’s Council of Bishops it was time to pivot, as the denomination has been losing churches since a 2019 special session of its General Conference approved a disaffiliation plan for congregations wishing to leave for “reasons of conscience” related to their beliefs about sexuality. The United Methodist Church has been stuck in disagreement over the ordination and marriage of its LGBTQ members for decades. EDUCATION--MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT ALLEGEDLY SENT HOME FOR REFUSING TO CHANGE SHIRT THAT SAID THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS

Middle school student allegedly sent home for refusing to change shirt that said 'there are  only two genders'--Story by Ashley Carnahan • Yesterday 7:00 PM

A12-year-old student was allegedly sent home from school after he refused to change his T-shirt that said, "There are only two genders."

Liam Morrison, a 7th grader at Nichols Middle School in Middleborough, Mass., said he was taken out of gym class on March 21 and met with school staff who told him people were complaining about the statement on his shirt and that it made them feel "unsafe."

"Yes, words on a shirt made people feel unsafe. They told me that I wasn't in trouble, but it sure felt like I was. I was told that I would need to remove my shirt before I could return to class. When I nicely told them that I didn't want to do that, they called my father," he explained during a Middleborough School Committee meeting on April 13.

"Thankfully, my dad, supportive of my decisions, came to pick me up. What did my shirt say? Five simple words: There are only two genders. Nothing harmful. Nothing threatening. Just a statement, I believe to be a fact."  READ MORE AT Middle school student allegedly sent home for refusing to change shirt that said 'there are only two genders' (msn.com)
