HALF MOON BAY---from the CROTON FD FB PAGE (see photos at CAR INTO BUILDING: HALF MOON... - Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department | Facebook)

Around 10:30 this morning, Car 2082 was flagged down for a motor-vehicle accident at the entrance to Half Moon Bay, where a vehicle struck the Hudson House building. A Rescue Matrix was dispatched bringing the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Croton EMS, an Ossining EMS Paramedic and Croton Police to the scene.
Members arrived and quickly stabilized the vehicle, shut down electric & gas to the building, secured a positive water source, stretched a precautionary hose line, stabilized the damaged overhang with Paratech struts and checked the building for any additional damage.
Nearly three dozen members from all five companies turned out and operated for nearly three hours. The vehicle was removed by A&P Towing and the building was turned over to Village of Croton Building Department and Half Moon Bay Property Management.
The driver, whom experienced a medical emergency setting off this chain of events, was able to escape the vehicle and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation by EMS.
On scene were: 2081, 2082, 2083, E118, E119, E120, TL44, R18 & U14.

FROM THE CROTON FIRE DEPT. FB PAGE--FIVE YEARS AGO ONE OF THE LARGEST FIRES IN OUR DEPARTMENT'S HISTORY OCCURRED AT DISCOVERY COVE.....

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship---in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

FROM THE CROTON FIRE DEPT. FB PAGE----Five years ago today, one of the largest fires in our department’s history occurred at Discovery Cove on Half Moon Bay Drive.

The fast moving, gas-fed blaze on one of the hottest and more humid days of August that year resulted in a 4th Alarm equivalent response, bringing over 100 firefighters from over a dozen local fire departments.
The coordinated, organized response kept the blaze confined to one condo and caused minor damage to one other.
Units operated at this blaze for nearly eight hours, and would once again “go to work” later that evening at a separate 2nd Alarm fire on Birch Court in the Village.
Thankfully no residents were injured and only two firefighters sustained minor injuries that day. PHOTOS AT Five years ago today, one of... - Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department | Facebook

THE CROTON CHRONICLE: A VILLAGE ADVISORY BOARD THAT OPERATES LARGELY UNDER THE RADAR WILL ADVISE THE BOARD ON THE "VISUAL ENVIRONMENT" OF THE 1HMB PROJECT PROPOSAL

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship---in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A village advisory board that operates largely under the radar will advise the Board of Trustees on the "visual environment" of the 1 Half Moon Bay Drive project proposal.

The developers met with the Advisory Board on the Visual Environment on August 13 and said the project would not affect river views or other sight-lines. The board does not currently publish minutes.

On Tuesday evening, August 27, the owners of 1 Half Moon Bay Drive will hold an informational meeting about their proposed 280 unit development at Capriccio’s in the village. While this is not a village sponsored event, the owners were encouraged organize such sessions for the community by the Board at a meeting earlier this year, and the village has posted the event on its Web page.
