9/18 LOT A ----A REMINDER AND AN UPDATE

Croton Public Hearing on Lot A

Sep 15, 2024

If you want change, you need to be present and voice your concerns at the 1 Croton Point Ave (Lot A) Public Hearing this Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - 7:00pm at the Muni Building. Ask why these points (click here) from our Village Planning Board were not addressed by the Village Board of Trustees ahead of this meeting? Will it be 100% affordable condos or 20%? Will the condos be taxed at a lower rate if they are all affordable? How can we make public comments on a project this is not finalized in order to assess its financial merits? Is there a resolution to the issue of water pressure for fire suppression?

Do not let up, do not back down, show up! These board meetings, with many of us present, gives us the ability to fight back. Also this will be an opportunity for you to meet the Voice of Croton candidates Gary Eisinger and Nigel Ravelo!

FORMER PROFESSOR ACHIEVES VICTORY IN APPEALS COURT

A former professor at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, who alleges he was harassed and fired for voicing his opinions about gender dysphoria, is headed back to district court for trial after achieving victory in an appeals court last week.

A three-judge panel for the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday in favor of Allan M. Josephson, who claimed he was demoted and essentially ousted by the University of Louisville in 2017 after sharing his opinions about how best to treat young people suffering from gender dysphoria during a panel at the Washington, D.C.-based conservative think tank Heritage Foundation.

"The defendants argue that they are entitled to Eleventh Amendment immunity and qualified immunity. The district court disagreed, and so do we," the 6th Circuit decision written by Biden appointee Judge Andre Mathis states. FOR THOSE FOLLOWING "EQUITY GRADING"...

The adoption of equity grading in the Fairfax County Public Schools system is taking a toll on students and parents, with some arguing that it is harming education and future prospects.

Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman was published in 2018 but gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The book argues for an overhaul in grading and teaching, including the exclusion of class rank. It is this provision that has caused problems, as those at the top of the class are left in the dark and unable to inform colleges.
