FOR THOSE FOLLOWING THE RICHARD LEAF CASE--RETIRED HARRISON TEACHER, ANNOUNCER---SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS

LOHUD-An acclaimed teacher and sports announcer whose arrest on child pornography charges three years ago shocked the Harrison school and Westchester athletics communities was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in federal prison by a judge who called his crimes "the intentional exploitation" of teenagers.

"He took advantage of the most vulnerable people in our society, children," U.S. District Judge Philip Halpern said of 76-year-old Richard Leaf in White Plains federal court. "He knew exactly what he was doing."

Leaf was arrested in February 2021 after authorities found his computer contained child pornography and naked images of a 15-year-old boy who Leaf met on Skype while posing as a teenager himself. MORE AT Announcer, retired Harrison teacher gets 10 years prison for child porn (lohud.com)

USA TODAY, I NEED THE LIBERAL SUPREME COURT JUSTICES TO STOP OVERREACTING IN THEIR DISSENTS....

As this has produced some local chatter and an endless stream of "the sky is falling" comments at the blog, an interesting article from USA Today:

I need the liberal Supreme Court justices to stop overreacting in their dissents

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's dissent in the immunity ruling was theater.

Dace Potas, USA TODAY

The Supreme Court has sided with President Donald Trump in his presidential immunity case. Monday's decision itself was incredibly tame, typical for those authored by Chief Justice John Roberts.

However, the response from the liberal justices was anything but.

“The nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority,” Roberts wrote for the majority. “And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.”

This means that Trump cannot be prosecuted for his discussions with Justice Department officials about investigating purported election fraud following the 2020 election. Other examples highlighted during oral arguments in April were President Barack Obama potentially being "charged with murder for killing U.S. citizens abroad by drone strike," as well as President George W. Bush "for obstructing an official proceeding or allegedly lying to Congress to induce war in Iraq." MORE AT Supreme Court gives Trump immunity – and liberal justices overreact (usatoday.com)
