THE ICONIC CROTON DUMMY LIGHT, JULY 4, 2024---click on the photo. 

The village is home to one of a handful operating "dummy lights" in the United States, located downtown at the intersection of Old Post Road South and Grand Street. It is a traffic signal on a pedestal which sits in the middle of an intersection, dating back to the 1920s. Another active dummy light located in New York State is at Beacon. The one in Canajoharie was removed in 2021.

BY SPECIAL REQUEST----a subject of intense local discussion---HOUSTON, Texas — A nurse at the nation’s largest children’s hospital says doctors pressured parents to give their kids hormone therapy and other transgender medicine interventions — warning that their children might kill themselves if they held off on treatments.  Vanessa Sivadge has worked at a Texas Children’s Hospital clinic where kids are given gender-affirming care since 2021. She said that doctors there are more driven by “ideology” than what was best for the youths, many of whom had additional underlying problems. TOWN OF CORTLANDT---RE-PAVING NOTICE----Please be advised that milling and paving operations are scheduled to begin on the following roads the week of July 8, 2024. North Street, Glen Lane, Sunset Avenue, Sunset Road (between Kings Ferry Road and Montrose Point Road), Dutch Street (between Route 9A and Sunset Road), Lisa Court and Crugers Road. The work should take 5-7 days to complete. This work is weather dependent and scheduling is subject to change. No parking on the road will be in effect during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm on the days the work is being performed on the individual roads.

SHOTS FIRED ON BUSY STREET IN DOWNTOWN PEEKSKILL

Police roped off a section of a busy downtown road in Northern Westchester for an investigation after residents heard several gunshots in the area.....Residents in the area reported hearing at least three of the shots. Investigating officers found at least two shell casings on the road while also using a K9 unit to search for more evidence. The blog has received lengthy commentary from someone who was quite misinformed on the specifics regarding the lawsuit against the Croton-Harmon School district, their DEI policies, etc. It is suggested that the writer instead consider broadening their reading to recent articles and/or letters from the local papers (LoHud and The Gazette), as well as extensive coverage from The Post, World, etc.
