THE NEWS WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR---NASSAU COUNTY LEGISLATORS BAN TRANS WOMEN FROM ALL-WOMEN COUNTY SPORTS

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

As this has been a topic of much discussion locally among parents whose daughters compete and plan to compete in college and beyond, the news we have been waiting for from Long Island and Nassau County:

Nassau County legislators ban trans women from all-women county sports
WSHU | By Desiree D'Iorio
Published June 25, 2024 at 8:12 AM EDT

The Republican-led legislature passed a bill on Monday that bans transgender women from participating in all-women’s sports teams on Nassau County properties. County Executive Bruce Blakeman, whose executive order to the same effect got reversed in court, is expected to sign it.

The law prohibits transgender women and girls from playing on all-female sports teams in dozens of county facilities, including pools, basketball courts and soccer fields. It does not apply to all-male teams or co-ed teams.

LGBTQ activists and parents of trans athletes rallied against the bill in Mineola ahead of the vote. They carried signs saying, “Protect trans youth” and “Trans girls are girls.” MORE AT Nassau County legislators ban trans women from all-women county sports (wshu.org)

BY SPECIAL REQUEST: US MUST FOLLOW THE UK'S LEAD AND ABANDON THE GENDER EXPERIMENT

A reader has been trying to locate a recent article about the Tavistock Clinic, now permanently closed---it is possibly this one:

Story by Kaylee McGhee White--------The United Kingdom’s National Health Services announced this week it will no longer routinely prescribe gender-confused children puberty blockers, admitting the hormonal treatments are experimental in nature and can have lasting physical and mental consequences.

The decision is the result of an internal investigation into the massive spike in referrals to the Tavistock gender clinic, which is set to close at the end of the month. Dr. Hilary Cass, a pediatrician who oversaw the investigation, concluded last summer that there was not enough evidence to support Tavistock’s treatments and that much more research was required. This week, that decision became final. MORE AT US must follow the UK’s lead and abandon the gender experiment (msn.com)

NEW FROM OUR FRIENDS AT EUROPEAN FILM STAR POSTCARDS, MORE FROM IL CINEMA RITROVATO -- MESSALINA

.....a preview of a new restoration will be shown of Enrico Guazzoni's silent classic Messalina starring diva Rina De Liguoro. This spectacular epic premiered a hundred years ago and was an international success. Unfortunately, only a badly printed, sonorised version of the film was available for a long time. The notorious Roman Empress Messalina, the third wife of the Roman Emperor Claudius, has proved endlessly fascinating to writers, painters, sculptors and composers of both ballet and opera. She has been portrayed on screen from as early as 1910.  SEE AND READ MORE AT European Film Star Postcards: Messalina
