A quick update on the Gouveia Property/Park/Saga:

---Back in July, the village issued an RFI for a restaurant on the property; let it suffice to say there have been no takers.

---The village is now considering a community garden on the site.  The proposed garden would be located behind the existing Quonset Hut on the eastern side of the park. After visits by members of the CAC and the Community Garden committee, it was determined that the location appears to receive sufficient daytime sun and would require little tree removal.  An estimate for the work required to put the garden in place, prepared by Superintendent Balbi, is $42,900.  If approved, Manager Healy would like this to come from the Gouveia Endowment Fund. To those who have asked how much is left....please direct your questions to staff.

In a scathing op-ed, the wife of a slain black St. Louis police captain accused the Black Lives Matter movement and other progressive activists such as Vice President Kamala Harris of dividing America, blasting them as “supervillains.”

Ann Dorn, a retired sergeant from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and widow of Capt. David Dorn, wrote in the op-ed published with Fox News Tuesday that her husband’s death was the product of Democrats and left-wing activists pushing an anti-law enforcement sentiment across the country.  “Ultimately, David was murdered because the people who are supposed to protect our streets — active-duty police officers — were ordered not to do their jobs....

One department store in Beverly Hills, California, has recently implemented a new rule: no masks allowed.  Fraser Ross, owner of the Kitson department store located in Beverly Hills, posted signs last Wednesday to inform shoppers that they would not be allowed to wear a mask in the store because of recent spikes in crime.
