NEW FROM THE CROTON CHRONICLE--KEN REGAN SPEAKS ABOUT MAPLE COMMONS

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

NEW FROM THE CROTON CHRONICLE---Ken Regan, VP of Regan Development Corporation, speaks about Maple Commons

In an interview with the Chronicle, the owner of the controversial development answers a number of questions we had about the project.

As anyone who attended last evening’s Board of Trustees meeting or watched it online will know, the future of housing development in Croton-on-Hudson remains a hot button issue. With Maple Commons now a fait accompli, two major new developments, at Parking Lot A and at 1 Half Moon Bay Drive, are now working their way through the village’s approval process. A small but spirited crowd of villagers showed up to protest the speed at which “urbanization” is allegedly occurring in Croton, and some villagers have now started a petition campaign to try to slow it down or stop it.

During the non-agenda item public comments at last evening’s meeting, the Chronicle’s editor, Michael Balter, got up to inform the board that the developer of Maple Commons, Regan Development Corporation, was refusing to answer any questions about this publicly funded project for an update the Chronicle was preparing. As Balter told the Board, this raised serious questions about transparency, even if the village no longer owns the so-called “Katz property.”

We are happy to report that Regan’s vice-president, Ken Regan, got in touch this morning and agreed to respond to our queries. MORE AT Ken Regan, VP of Regan Development Corporation, speaks about Maple Commons (substack.com)

TRUMP ASSASSINATION, JACK MARSHALL, ETHICS ALARMS

Accountability? What’s Accountability? Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Still Has Her Job, and Only the Prominence of a Confederacy of Ethics Dunces Can Explain That [Corrected]

I could go into an analysis of what was so stunningly dangerous and incompetent about the Secret Service FUBAR that almost got Donald Trump murdered, at this point just about the only way the Democrats would be able to keep the White House. I’m happy to wait for the results of Congressional hearings and the investigation, but as I heard many experts say on multiple networks, you don’t have to be an expert to figure from the time-line and what we do know that the Secret Service was spectacularly incompetent, and that Cheatle’s pathetic explanations (I particularly like “the sloped roof was too dangerous for our agents so we let a gunman use it to shoot Trump”) haven’t passed the giggle test.  MORE AT Accountability? A TOPIC OF CONSIDERABLE LOCAL CHATTER---NEARLY 700 SCHOOLS ACROSS US COULD BE UNDER TITLE IX INJUNCTION

A federal injunction on the Biden administration's Title IX overhaul may soon extend far beyond the four states involved in an initial lawsuit, and nearly 700 schools across 48 states will likely be affected by the order.

Earlier this month, a federal judge in Kansas blocked the implementation of the new Title IX rules written by President Joe Biden's Department of Education, which changed the definition of sex to include gender identities. Critics say the move could effectively shut down sex-specific accommodations, such as allowing women to have their own restrooms that exclude men.
