BREAKING----SCOTUS NUKE'S BIDEN'S UNLAWFUL STUDENT LOAN BAILOUT-----AGAIN

BREAKING---On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court once again rejected President Joe Biden’s unlawful attempt to force American taxpayers to subsidize his student loan bailout plan.

In its brief order, the high court denied an application from the Biden-Harris administration to vacate a lower court injunction that prohibited enforcement of its latest student loan bailout program. There were no noted dissents in the order. MORE AT SCOTUS Nukes Biden's Unlawful Student Loan Bailout — Again (thefederalist.com)

DRAFT REGULATION ON ENDANGERED SPECIES AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT THROUGH OCT. 18TH

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Draft Regulation on Endangered Species Available for Public Comment Through October 18, 2024

DEC recently released a draft regulation to protect certain endangered and threatened species. The rulemaking begins a multi-phase process of updating New York State’s list of animal species classified as endangered, threatened, or of special concern. The draft regulation addresses species of fish, a recently designated species of frog (Atlantic coast leopard frog), and species recently classified under the federal Endangered Species Act.

New York’s list of endangered and threatened species was last updated in 1999 and does not currently reflect best available information on the distribution of species or their conservation status. This proposal is the first in a series of rulemakings to update the overall threatened and endangered species list, and DEC anticipates addressing groups of related species in separate rulemakings over the next two years.

The current proposed rulemaking will update the status of freshwater fishes based on research by DEC and partners over the last 25 years. Status assessment information for species addressed in this rulemaking is available on DEC’s website.

DEC is holding two virtual public hearing sessions on Thursday, October 10, at 1 p.m. and at 6 p.m. The draft regulation and details for the hearings and comment period are available on DEC's website.

New Yorkers are encouraged to comment on this draft regulation and help ensure the State’s full regulatory protection is applied appropriately statewide. Comments will be accepted through 5 p.m. on October 18, 2024, and must be submitted in writing to rarefish@dec.ny.gov (subject: “Endangered Species”) or to: NYSDEC, Attn: Lisa Holst, 625 Broadway, Albany, NY 12233-4753.

ZUCKERBERG NEEDS TO SPILL ALL ON HOW FBI CENSORED AMERICANS

On April 9th, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, reminding him of a subpoena in search of communications between Meta, the FBI, and “alleged foreign influence or election integrity.”

Jordan’s office subsequently released a “Facebook Files” series, revealing documents showing Meta executives worrying about “continued pressure . . . including from the White House” to remove content.

Zuckerberg this week sent a letter that, in a country with a functioning news media, would have major ramifications.

Not in direct response to Jordan’s April query, it appears to have been sent at Zuckerberg’s own volition, and is filled with passages deeply embarrassing to authorities. The first is about pressure to “censor” — specifically “censor,” not “moderate” or “exercise oversight”:

“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a bit of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree . . . I believe the government was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.” MORE AT Mark Zuckerberg needs to spill all on how FBI censored Americans (nypost.com)

ETHICS ALARMS---A CANARY DIES IN THE NYC ETHICS MINE

In New York City, close to one million bus riders, about one out of every two passengers, board buses without paying. The loss of revenue for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has reached a critical stage, and yet the city has yet to do anything about it, because it doesn’t know what to do. It may be too late. More at A Canary Dies In The NYC Ethics Mine | Ethics Alarms
