NY GENDER NEUTRAL HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS POLICY VOTE TABLED

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

The New York board that sets education policy for the state was set to vote Tuesday on a controversial proposal to allow high school boys to compete in girls-only sports such as field hockey and flag football.

But the Board of Regents has punted, at least for now.

The proposed rule change was omitted from an agenda posted Friday for the board's September meeting. A spokesman for the state Education Department confirmed afterward that the vote had been tabled, pending further review of a flood of public comments on the proposal.

The Education Department had put forth the proposal and recommended that the Regents support it. MORE AT NY gender neutral hig

Editor’s note: While the Chronicle does not endorse candidates for public office, we hope to provide a community forum to those candidates who want to present their positions and views in this space. This is in addition to our own reporting on election campaigns. To that end, we have asked Len Simon and Maria Slippen, also candidates for the Board this November, to submit position papers, Guest Editorials, or any other materials for publication in the Chronicle. We have been told that they are currently considering this invitation.

In the late hours of Thursday, September 5th, we announced our candidacies through our Voice of Croton Facebook page. We invited Crotonites to a Meet & Greet the Candidates event at our beautiful waterfront for the last summer concert series of the season at Senasqua Park. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with neighbors and friends speaking about the issues and what compelled us to run. We’re grateful to those who sought us out and were willing to connect with us. TRANSGENDERISM ISSUES--FIVE FINDINGS FROM COVENANY SHOOTER AUDREY HALE'S DIARY

5 findings from Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale's complete diaryThe Tennessee Star has released all 90 pages of the “manifesto” of Audrey Hale, the trans-identified shooter who killed six people at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee last year.

The journal had remained under seal from the Metro Nashville Police Department after the FBI sent the local law enforcement agency a memo stating that it “strongly discourages” the release of so-called “legacy tokens” because of concerns that future mass shooters would “immerse themselves in and study these materials for inspiration and tactics.” Critics of the move to keep the document confidential theorized that there was an effort to hide that trans ideology either motivated or played a partial role in the attack.
