THE CROTON CHRONICLE------Earlier today, James V. McDonald, New York state’s Commissioner of Health, issued a Declaration of an Imminent Threat to Public Health after a human death in Ulster County due to infection with the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus. The Hochul administration immediately announced a series of emergency measures designed to prevent the spread of EEE, which is normally passed to humans via the bite of a mosquito. The death rate in humans from EEE can be more than 33%—in other words, very, very high.
