OBITUARY & SERVICE INFO FOR COLONEL EDMUND "BEAU" MASON RIELY

Colonel Edmund “Beau” Mason Riely, USA Retired, passed away in his home and surrounded by his loving family on May 3, 2023 after a long, tenacious and courageous journey with brain cancer.

Beau was born on February 12, 1972 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was raised in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. He was a proud graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY, where he was captain of the football and lacrosse teams and met his future wife, Renie. He began his military career at the 82nd Airborne Division after receiving his commission through the ROTC program at Georgetown University, where he was also captain of the football team his senior year. He continued to excel, graduating from the U.S. Army Ranger School, serving as a distinguished officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, earning his M.B.A. at the University of Maryland, earning a Bronze Star in Afghanistan, serving as a Battalion Commander at the Warrior Training Center at Ft. Benning, Georgia, attending the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and ultimately finishing his career as a faculty member at the National War College at Ft. McNair, Washington, D.C.

Beau was an extremely humble, hard working man who was quick to praise others and reluctant to accept credit. He was genuine, loyal and dedicated to doing what is right. He was a devout Christian whose legacy is one of faith, family and service. He loved to spend his free time with his wife and four children, coaching his children’s sports teams, helping them with Scouts and teaching Sunday School with Renie. His idea of the perfect weekend was watching College Game Day, exercising with Renie, watching college football or a movie with his children, eating pizza for dinner and attending church with his family.

Beau loved the Lord and is reunited with his son, Christian, who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 26 years, Lorena “Renie” Riely, his three adoring sons, Connor, Jack and Luke and his beautiful daughter, Meg, who is so much like him; his loving parents, Edmund and Patricia Riely; his brother, Jim, sister-in-law Melissa and their children, Declan, Kieran and Cora; his brother, Dan, sister-in-law Kelly and their children, Daniel Jr., Nicholas and Brendan; his sister Dorothy, brother-in-law, Evan, and their daughter, Maryn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Janis Polastre; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Carol Sarubbi; his sister-in-law, Andrea Sarubbi and her husband, Luke Kirby; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were special to him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Brain Tumor Society or your local food pantry, both of which are causes that are dear to Beau’s heart.
